The surrounding area and view was amazing, but the property (guest rooms) need investment to prevent them from appearing to be run down or dated. It could be enhanced with decorating, new furniture and some in room technology. The wifi in the guest room we were given was non-existent.
As we checked in, there were 5 customer groups in front of us waiting for service. Food was being carried out to tables in the restaurant area in front of us. We saw that the kitchen was due to close at 9pm and it was already 8.55pm, so we quickly asked one of the busy staff members carrying food whether we could still order as we hadn't eaten since breakfast. He returned from the kitchen and told us that "all the food had gone and orders were finished - Nothing left from the menu". When we eventually checked in at the desk we qualified this with the receptionist, who went to the kitchen again and came back to explain that they could only offer mushroom soup and bread. As she also confirmed that this would be the only food option for miles around, we asked for 2 portions (watery and disgusting). Once we had finished eating, taken bags to the room, the three hotel staff members on duty were seen tucking in to three plates of the other options from the menu.
This is the very worst in customer service, when they had all kitchen ingredients to quickly prepare something else for themselves or us as paying guests!
A good hotel location let down by selfish staff, leading to a poor visitor experience.
