"Every aspect was perfect"

"Great staff who are prepared to go the extra mile to ensure guests are happy. The breakfasts had a good variety catering for all tastes, the evening meals were tasty, my husband described the pie as "out of this world". The bedroom room was a good size and the bathroom was well appointed. The only downside was the shower lost pressure a couple of times, however the staff arranged to get it fixed."

"First time in a pod as we normally go abroad in 5 star hotels but this time we wanted the kids to experience some adventure and of course save some money. We are not campers so we took a gamble at a bit of glamping. This place was perfect for us, we didn't want for anything and anything we needed was in the little shop at reception. We want to do the same thing in wales when the kids are better at walking longer distances hopefully it's half as good as this place. Thanks"

"Property has been upgraded downstairs and the restaurant and bar area are lovely as is the outside courtyard. When you go upstairs it’s apparent that an upgrade is still required. Our room - 3 - overlooked a very busy main road and the secondary double glazing did nothing to keep the constant traffic noise at bay. There are two windows in that’s room. "Staff ticked all the boxes; courteous, helpful, friendly, and professional. Clean, spacious, modern room. Lots of hanging space and hangars in the wardrobe. Excellent bar and breakfast service. Lovely grounds. Top marks."

"This is a great venue if you wish to be off grid lifestyle. For us it didn’t quite meet our needs as our dog couldn’t manage the staircase & although we thought we had a shower and separate bathroom we only had a bath. Hot water is at a premium here we found & lacking in water pressure. But truly a great venue if you wish to unplug, & chill. One recommendation I would make, to help dogs relax. "Decor is rather dated. We didn't mind too much. TV. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Complimentary bottles of water,tea/coffee bags, biscuits replenished every day. "I generally stay in 4–5 star accommodation, and based on the website description and previous reviews, I expected Hay’s Wood Retreat to fall into that category. Unfortunately, the standard of the lodge did not match the ‘luxury’ billing — in my assessment it was closer to a solid 3-star property.
