Find out more about Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island Guide

Singapore’s most visited island, Sentosa, rests on the southern shores of the city-state, just a short distance from the CBD. Known as Singapore’s most enticing island gem, Sentosa is home to Universal Studios, a casino, charismatic beachfront and shopping spots. Resorts World operates the main theme park on the island, offering excellent hotels and facilities for incoming guests.

Don’t Miss

Yes, Sentosa is famous for the massive Resorts World complex. However, there are various other sites that will grab the attention of tourists.

Resorts World is where tourists will feel the thrills of immense rollercoasters, walk through replicas of Hollywood and the New York streets, and view magnificent shows. After a long day of thrill-seeking, grown-ups can try their luck in the onsite casino, which boasts more than 500 tables of 19 different gaming options.

Beaches also stand as important tourist attractions on Sentosa. Tanjong Beach is the most tranquil of the island’s swimmable beaches, and also boasts plenty of beach volleyball. Siloso has a magnificent promenade that provides great seating and dining in the evenings. Palawan is another strip of sand that is ideal for tourists needing an escape.

Sightseeing on Sentosa is possible with the family. Underwater World, which rests near Siloso Beach, provides a few hours of entertainment and is the largest oceanarium in Asia. Fort Siloso rests close by and has been transformed into an interesting museum boasting exhibits from the war-time era. Of course, no trip to Sentosa is complete without seeing the famous Merlion.

Restaurants and Bars

Dining in Sentosa is slightly different to the experience in the rest of Singapore. Prices are higher and the food tends to cater more for tourists. In the Resort World complex, the hotels boast high-end dining options. However, for a cheaper option with great diversity in cuisine, tourists should head to VivoCity Shopping Mall. Bars are few and far between on Sentosa, although the beaches of the island tend to host music parties on weekends. The larger resorts also feature lounges and bars for guests.

Shopping

The closest shopping facility at Sentosa is VivoCity, a massive mall located opposite the Sentosa Bridge. Plenty of internationally-renowned retailers operate inside this shopping mall. There is also a large hypermarket and supermarket residing within the complex.
