"Staying here was the best decision because we were surrounded by nature and the vibe of the hotel is very calm and peaceful. The breakfast was 10/10!! If you are into trail running and hiking, there is a very beautiful 10k trail up the mountain very near the hotel (about 5 minutes away walking). This hotel is definitely one of my highlights from Japan."

"Good location/very helpful staff and I loved the pajamas, which I tried on for a laugh then realized they were very comfortable. We had luggage sent there from Tokyo and it was waiting in the room when we arrived, and we also had the staff send our luggage back to Tokyo the day before we left. We called taxis using our Uber app and the lobby has a waiting area with decent seating where we could wait and then go outside right when the cab was coming. It was close to picturesque Pontoncho alley and not far from Teramachi covered shopping area (which can take you pretty much all the way to Nishiki Market, and nice bonus when it's rainy or you want some shade from the sun). Right next to the hotel is a vegetarian friendly, gluten-free friendly ramen place called Moon and Back. We first sought out the busy location at Nishiki Market, (researched by our vegetarian daughter) then two days later as we were leaving the hotel we noticed there was another branch literally right next to the front of the hotel and went one final time before we left Kyoto. It's nothing fancy, nor is it that traditional, but when you have one vegetarian in your group it's a nice option; I enjoyed the wagyu beef ramen which they finish it at your table with a blowtorch. My other daughter liked using hotel's public bath, which is segregated for women and men."
