As an American traveler, I realize my expectations are different from local standards, so I'm rating this property with that in mind. By the standards I'm accustomed to in the United States, I would have rated this property 1 star. However, recognizing that expectations and accommodations may differ in Chile, I'm giving it 3 stars. I'm genuinely trying to be fair and take those differences into account, even though, for me, this was not a particularly pleasant experience.
The home is spacious and can accommodate a large group, which was a positive. However, it is very worn and in need of significant maintenance and updating. Most of the furniture, including the beds and chairs, has seen better days. The twin beds were acceptable, but the larger beds creaked, lacked support, and were uncomfortable. Although the home can sleep up to 19 people, there was seating for only about 9 people, with much of it consisting of hard chairs.
Cleanliness was below what I expected. During a heavy rainstorm, the kitchen roof developed a significant leak. I cleaned up the water, placed a garbage can underneath to catch it, and had to empty the can about every hour throughout the storm to keep the kitchen from flooding. When I notified the owner, rather than asking about the damage or thanking us for managing the situation, the initial response was to ask what we had done to cause the leak, which I found disappointing. I also found the owner's communication to be more defensive than helpful.
