Room for improvement

The hotel stay was decent, but not great or outstanding. It provided basic comforts but expected a little more. The WiFi connection was horrible and pretty much inexistent which was frustrating. The surrounding are was nice and close to the beach.

Palmarena

No hot water, hard to get Internet and the hotel is in Rodadero and not Santa Marta. We had a suite with 3 single beds and another room with a queen bed plus a living room with tv and couches. The bedrooms were air conditioned but the living room was not. There is also no elevator but the porter will take your luggage upstairs. Pool was ok. It's not on the beach but the public beach is a block away. Decent breakfast. Service people were very nice and we managed ok but overpriced for the amenities. Getting the kids clean without hot water was not easy. There is a modern air conditioned mall close by about 10 min walk (top notch by any country's standards) and plenty of local restaurants, 24 hr drug stores and at least 3 supermarkets. Overall we felt safe in the neighbourhood at all hours.
