Just back to an excellent beach breakfast restaurant (gula gula) But back to bar (la Máxima) with loud music until 1 or 2 am Over all. EXCELLENT location, great staff!!!

Third time staying at the hotel, it won’t be our last. It was however our first time in an upper room. It was beautiful, but we prefer the lower rooms. While it was not an issue, the stairs creeks were not the most comfortable when using them - especially for a bigger person.

Amazing hotel situated by the beach. It's quite, clean and well designed. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Mexican sun. The only difficulty is the WIFI which never works. You thus really relax...

The hotel is amazing, the rooms are clean, very well done and quite comfortable. The staff is very friendly an so helpful. The only issue is the tranquility of the area...weekends are awfully noisy. On Friday and Saturday, there was loud electronic music until 5 am!!! Even with ear plugs, it was too much. I would think twice about going back for a weekend unless you want to party till 5 am.

I liked the design of the property (built on the block before the beach instead of right on the beach), which allowed the owner to set a bar and a restaurant (with very nice food) on the first few meters of beach and also allows more beach area to enjoy. However, both the bar and some neighboor establishments generate some noise which can be bothersome, specially after 22:00. While I understand the owner is in the process of installing air conditioning in all rooms, mine didn't have it, so I found the room too hot at night (even though I enjoy tropical temperatures), so a/c seems really necessary, at least during summer. Large and convenient private place for parking. Staff is friendly, though first two days in which I tried to call by phone (before my arrival), I didn't get by call answered.

Magical hotel in a magical beach town!

What a magical little hotel right on the beach! I loved staying at this place, it was private, close to town, close to great bars, and had delicious breakfast food right on the beach. I can’t wait to come back to this magical town and stay at this hotel.

I really think Descalzo is the best value for money you will find in Zipolyte. It’s a beautiful, family run hotel in a fantastic location half way along Zipolyte beach. The rooms are spacious and sensitively designed. Beds are superb and showers are strong. The upstairs rooms don’t have air con but they have a better view of the sea. Downstairs rooms are a little smarter with air con and a bathtub but have less of the treehouse feel to them. I love both.

When I return to Zipolite, I will be staying here. I loved my room that looked out onto the ocean. It’s set right about the middle of the stretch of beach so you can walk in either direction and explore. It’s just a few steps to the beach itself. They have a small pool under a canopy of palm trees that is great for cooling down from the afternoon heat. The restaurant and bar that are right on the beach in front of the hotel have a delicious menu. The staff really went out of their way to make sure I had a great stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Had a great time at Descalzo! Will definitely go back next time in Zipolite. Beautiful facilities. Reception staff could communicate/coordinate better amongst themselves - one person tells you one thing and another tells you they have no idea what their colleague promised. Only comment is that the food at the bar and restaurants associated to the hotel are pricey compared to options nearby and service wasn't always great.

Hotel Descalzo is in an excellent location on the beach close to town. It has a restaurant and bar on the beach and you can sign the bill to your room. It is very rustic and authentic Mexico. The beds have mosquito nets around the bed and a ceiling fan above the bed. The downsides are there are mosquitoes and it is close to Maximas which has drag shows and music that goes until 2am. Then at 5am the roosters wake and the dogs start barking so ear plugs are recommended if you have trouble sleeping with such noise.

Traumhaft schönes Hotel direkt am Strand. Nachts hörte man im Bett den Pazifik rauschen. Wir hatten ein Zimmer oben in einem der Häuschen. Man fühlte sich dadurch fast wie in einem Baumhaus. Restaurants und Bars sind alle in wenigen Minuten fussläufig zu erreichen. Man muss aber auch gar nicht weit weg, weil das Hotel selbst eine Bar und Restaurant am Strand hat. Wenn Zipolite, dann Hitel Descalzo!

Fantastic! This hotel is lovely, authentic, has incredible food, and is right in the center of the beach–such an easy walk to go anywhere in town. Carol and Pedro at reception were happy to help us, and Perla and Erica gave great Swedish massages.
