Elements of the Hotel were looking a little tired, the stairways looked worn and in need of attention. No lifts so 3 flights of stairs, some of the stairways being quite narrow. Staff were friendly, unfortunately the chef did not turn up for breakfast.

Staff excellent Breakfast delicious Good value for money Only negatives - seal on glass shower panel needs replacing. Woken by the noise of pigeons Window frosted so no view.

Love staying at The Bell. Staff are very friendly. Food is really good, wonderful breakfast with awesome choices included. Room was very well appointed with superb view of the river.

Exceeded expectations. Will stay again. We travelled with 3 small children and stayed in a family room. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Perfect for our family. Parking was only £1.50 and breakfast was included. Breakfast quality was excellent. Not a greasy spoon, no. This was a lovely, quality breakfast offering with something for everyone. Will absolutely stay again. Great value for money.

This property was adequate for our two-night stay. We have sadly marked average-to--good as there was room for improvement. Reception staff were friendly and helpful but some members of the breakfast dining staff let the hotel down. Unfortunately, they did not pay attention to detail ie; replenish cold buffet items and crockery as a matter of form. We had to ask. We were asked if we had a comfortable stay on checking out. We did. However, not wanting to be people who make a fuss, once back home it was confirmed that we had been downgraded to a standard double room instead of the Superior double room we had paid for. The "river view" was more of a "road view". The river cannot be seen as the room is on the ground floor. Room 2 is not a Superior Room with a River view. It is a double room without the view. We were clearly mis-sold this room by the hotel. We did not receive the room we had booked. Looking at previous comments it appears this has happened before. We can only assume that the superior double room with river view was allocated to other guests. We note the hotel does not respond to any comments. All I can say is question which room you have been allocated, especially if you have paid for an upgrade. We are disappointed, but we have learnt a lesson. Next time we will address issues straight away.

Great food but wouldn't stay there again
The food and the service is 5 star! But unfortunately, there was no lift to the rooms and I had a 35 kg bag I had to carry up the stairs. Good job I can carry it! Internet kept dropping out every 5 minutes and also yielded a poor wifi signal all over the hotel. Poor 3G signal too. No parking, and no unloading area. You have to park on double yellow lines. Rooms are clean but you can hear your neighbours moving around upstairs at 05:00 when they wake. I also had a room with the alley view, so I could hear the bins being dragged along the cobbles at 05:30 every morning. For a business trip, it's not ideal.

The room was tired and dated , the facilities were out of date. The shower was full of mould and dribbled out a stream of lukewarm water. The hot tap rotated on the sink and was difficult to use. The bed was not of the quality I would expect in a room priced at £195 Better room planning by the hotel would be advisable as lovely as it was I wasn’t part of the celebration happening downstairs but that didn’t matter as I could hear it as if they were playing in my room. Maybe the guests for that celebration would have liked to be closer to it. The TV refused to work during my stay and there was no one to answer my call to the front desk I would have taken the time to discuss this with the staff on departure however again there was no one present. I try and support individual enterprises wherever possible however this time I wished I had booked into a purple palace, at least you know what to expect. I travel extensively for business all over the world and have stayed in many hotels over the years , this one I will not be staying in again!

Great little hotel
Nice hotel, great location on the water of lovely little town of Sandwich, nice chilled outdoor terrace and breakfast was really good and staff were very nice.

Great location and nice town. Able to park right in front. Breakfast and dinner were solid and convenient. Perfect place to stay when playing golf in this area.

A second great stay.
This is our second stay here, and once again everything was great. From the warm friendly greeting at reception, the clean, large, warm room to the friendly bar staff. We didn’t eat dinner here this time, but the food looked just as great as the last time we stayed. The Full English Breakfast was good and again delivered by friendly staff. Well done Team - Keep up the great work.

My wife and I stayed at the Bell Hotel for a short break, and I'd find it impossible to fault. The hotel is spotlessly clean, well run and in a perfect location from which to explore the town and the surrounding area. The service we received was simply outstanding and the food excellent. Fantastic stay at Bell Hotel
Stayed for a wedding held in the hotel, everything from check in to check out was great. Housekeeping got my room ready so I could check in early for 2.30 wedding. The food was fantastic, the staff friendly and very helpful with a special thanks to the gentleman who allowed us to stay in the bar relaxing and chatting until the early hours. (Sorry I forgot your name, I was a little tired) I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel.
Very nice hotel. Well decorated. I was in a family room up two floors. There didnt appear to be any lift. Breakfast was nice but slow. Wet poached eggs put straight onto toast which made the toast very soggy. Had to order more toast. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Bathroom could do with updating. Old lovely building.

One night in sandwich
Extremely helpful staff at reception. Nice location situated centrally in the town close to all amenities. Get there early if you can if you want one of the four parking places at the hotel. If you plan on booking a taxi for further movement, book it early or you are walking! A little over priced, but you are paying for the location i suppose.

Great location, very scenic
Great hotel in the middle of Sandwich, very lovely front of house staff and ample paid parking over the road (free between 6pm-9am).

Nice location & friendly staff
Nice location with friendly staff, ample (paid) parking in the car park over the road and comfortable clean room. Only negative is that due to the age of the building, the rooms aren’t sound proofed and so be prepared to heat conversations from the corridor and in the room next door.

We had a lovely stay here. Everyone friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really delicious . Only slight issue no lift so not fully accessible for disabled to upper floors
