Unique, rustic hotel. Hostess was very friendly and helpful. Walkable distance from everything I wanted to experience. I would definitely go again. My only advice is to give door handle signs for when to clean and warn guests of the train so they can bring earplugs. Regardless I give them 4.8

We had the lowest price room so I'm sure it is not an example of the entire hotel, that being said it was a fine room for the rate. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, one of the best Tenderloins I have had in Costa Rica

The hotel was good and in a very good spot. There is NOT a free breakfast and NOT a free parking. You have to pay for your breakfast and pay to park your car.

Good for what you pay in San Jose

The owner and the staff are awesome. The room is excellent for what you pay. But the building is old and not renovated. The hotel is very secure. It has air conditioning and room cleaning every day. The cleaning staff is also very good. Thanks for mat the owner for welcoming guests with friendliness. I would like to stay again whenever I have a chance.

Older building is why 3 stars. Great staff and helpful. Area is secure even at night for walking and has Sportsman bar/hotel a block away. Great value for budget minded person. There is a dermatology and foot doctor clinic around the corner on backside of hotel which I used. Hotel taxi to airport about 23 dollars.

We based ourselves here for first few nights in Costa Rica having wanted a central location. Check in went smoothly and staff were always available and helpful with 24 hour front desk and we felt safe. Breakfast was reasonably priced and good quality. The room itself was spacious with two beds both of which were comfortable and the bathroom had hot water although the door to it didn’t shut. The one ac unit couldn’t cool the room. Use of such a space was poor and instead of creating a good social area, the quality, type and placement of furniture meant it was impractical to use much of it. The room looked tired and some of the plentiful electrical sockets didn’t look entirely safe. Outside the hotel, there was a nice little restaurant across the road, a mini mart with a smoothie stall attached. It was also only a few blocks from some of the central markets and sites of downtown. On the flip side, the train tracks run alongside the hotel and for the first two days trains were running from 5am. For reasons we didn’t understand far fewer trains ran later in the week. With some improvements I would consider staying here again despite the review I’ve given. The room has such potential and just needs a little investment to address decor and layout and some issues with weak Wi-Fi. Staff were friendly, welcoming and flexible to our needs so there is clearly the desire to provide a good customer experience and it just needs this to be reflected throughout the building itself.
