The staff were friendly and it was convenient to park right by our ground floor room.
It was incredibly noisy at times, sounding like people were constantly knocking on our door, so much so that I didn't answer when someone really did knock.
The location was convenient, being about a 10 min drive from downtown, Mission Beach, Balboa Park, and Sea World, but I did not enjoy the surroundings. This appeared to be the only hotel plopped in the middle of one of the dirtiest parts of town, with an overpass and industrial buildings all around.
The breakfast was tolerable, but nothing like the breakfasts you would find at Best Western Plus or Hiatt. I guess you get what you pay for.
Our room smelled like farts from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Maybe it was the sewer system or the smell of the tap water itself?
Both days, the cleaning service was knocking on our door sometime between 8-9am. We had not put the Do Not Disturb sign on our door. Maybe we should have done that.
The rooms looked clean- though very dated- and the beds were comfy, so I was glad for that.
All other hotels I have stayed at that had a kitchenette also provided dish soap. This one did not. It also only provided one plate, one saucer, one cup, one fork, one knife, and one spoon. You had to ask the front desk if you wanted more. Maybe this is a California thing?
I would not stay here again.
