Kunene Whammy

Disappointing stay. The deck overlooking the Kunene River which is featured in the advertisement for the property is stunning. However, nothing else lived up to these expectations. Our booking showed a hotel room and when we arrived we were shown to what was apparently a "guides" room. The room was small, dark and dingy and was closed with a lock on a latch. For the less money at other locations in the area we received a far better deal. We asked to be moved as this was not good for the amount of money we had paid. We were then given an hotel room but we were reminded when we left of the favour we had been done to be upgraded! The property is tired and needs some injection of inspiration. Some staff members left a lot to be desired.

Wir hatten ein Upgrade für ein Zimmer mit AC. Pool sehr schön. Sundowner Tour war mit den gewünschten Getränken äußerst angenehm und sehr nett gestaltet.

Etape verte d'un voyage en Namibie

Magnifique ponton et jardin au bord de la rivière Kunene. Belle piscine. Grande chambre avec terrasse, air co, frigo et douche chaude. Acceuil chaleureux. Le propriétaire nous a même aidé pour un problème de pare brise.

La location e spettacolare, una terrazza sul fiume, ma ben più importante l'ambiente circostante. Ottima la cucina e di livello adeguato il servizio. Si mangia su una terrazza sul fiume con la sponda angolana illuminata di notte.

Great Location

They agreed to make changes to booking without any hassle or extra cost. Everyone was very friendly and eager to satisfy. Chalet was clean and spacious with a good quality comfortable bed. Food is delicious especially the pork chops! The scenery can hardly get any better with the deck right on the river. What you see on the website is what you get!

In dire need of upgrade

Kunene River lodge is the only place to stay for miles so there is no choice. It is in a stunning location right on the Kunene river opposite the Angolan bank and has a wonderful deck right on the river. If you are a camper it is probably a great spot as all the campsites front the river. However the lodge itself is an ugly breeze block monstrosity, not at all in keeping with the environment and it is in dire need of good maintenance (curtains that come off the rails every time they are pulled etc) and serious upgrading and modernisation. It is shabby, old and not in keeping with some of the wonderful places we stayed in Namibia. Food was absolutely disgusting - even given the difficulties of getting supplies there. We were not warned that the road was flooded and we had to do some pretty scary 4x4 driving.

Sehr schöne Anlage für Gäste mit und ohne Zelt

Wir hatten das Glück als Erste in einem neu fertiggestelltem Bungalow einquartiert zu werden. Dieser war mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet worden, wie auch die Anlage insgesamt sehr schön und großzügig gestaltet ist. Das gesamte Personal ist sehr freundlich und auch Sonderwünsche werden gern erfüllt.
