"My visit to the Belmont was perfect. It is the first time in many years that a venue has exceeded my expectations and some. From the dedicated parking space, through Reception to our room left no doubt that we were expected and welcomed. Every member of the team we met were professional, cheerful and interested in our wellbeing. The dining room staff and the food were first class with the experience enhanced at dinner by the inclusion of a pianist at a grand piano! The hotel’s position and amenities are second to none and, though the weather during our visit left much to be desired that didn’t detract from our enjoyment. I have no doubt I will be returning to the Belmont in the future."

"Had one evening meal. The food quality was good, no complaints with that. Only had continental breakfast, usual toast, cereal, fruit juice, Croissants, etc That was all fine. Cooked breakfast options were available for extra charge. Bedrooms and showers need some attention. Small issues. Moved rooms after first nights sleep as mattress was very poor. Much better sleep in different room second night. Shower water power in first room was okay but second room was lacking. Usual amount of downstairs pub noise but that soon died down after about 10pm ish. Quiet night sleep overall. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Good choice of local ales."

"Booked a single room in May 2026. First room I was given: tiny room, couldn't fully open wardrobe door because bed was in the way, v. limited wardrobe space, not helped by ironing board being kept there. TV not working, no safe, lights not fully functioning, Asked to be moved. Second room: could open wardrobe door, but same problem with storage in the wardrobe ( although ironing board was now stored behind the curtain). Had to live out of suitcase and bags for the week as a consequence: not great or relaxing for a tidy person. No door hooks for coats and robe added to untidiness. Base of bed marked on both sides with what looked like urine, checked the mattress, but that was ok. Housekeeping chaotic. Room not clean. Dirty mark on bathroom floor for two days before I d/w it myself. Safe present. TV catchup not working Reported twice, but not sorted). Biscuits and bottled water provided some days but not others; reported to reception, but nothing done. Last day of stay, decided to eat poolside before setting off. Was told that there was only a sharing menu available on Sundays. I pointed out that I was a single hotel guest, but no alternative was offered: end of a rotten week. Wrote to hotel from home about this, but have received no reply. Would not recommend this hotel."

"Lovely traditional hotel set on the beachfront road overlooking the sea at Sidmouth. We reserved one night and the staff were all very polite and helpful, our room, although a standard classification, was extremely comfortable with a lovely King sized bed, the bathroom was spotlessly clean, towels were all of excellent quality, also a big bonus was having car parking available on site by pre-booking, overall a throughly enjoyable stay at the Riviera we would definitely return."
