We decided to stay here because of the price and customer reviews, but it was located about 50 miles from our destination of Durango. Wish we'd known that. The outside was very disappointing, but the room and inside was a pleasant surprise. There is even a very nice little restaurant attached that is usually only open on weekends or to patrons of the hotel. We got there a little late, but the owner, Eamon, who is also a wonderful chef, cooked us a great dinner. We were the only ones there that first evening, and found the whole experience very charming, even worth the extra drive. Reminds me of an old fashioned bed and breakfast. The breakfast on both days was wonderful.(and free).
Eamon is a great cook and apparently loves to. The only complaint we had, (and I didn't tell Eamon about this), was the lack of hot water for bathing.
We'd go back in a heartbeat. Oh, we spoke to a store owner in Telluride, and apparently, the restaurant, The Argentine, is a local favorite, even though it's 40 miles from there.
