"We found that the hotel/motel properties in Montrose seemed a bit expensive. Minecart Lodge is a very modest old style motel that has been freshened up. The room was fairly small but adequate. Even though we had a room pretty close to the road, it was quiet. The coffee was good for breakfast. They also had granola bars and containers of yogurt. The best part of the stay was walking next door to the restaurant called “Tacos and Beer” for you guessed it, delicious tacos and beer. This is a good place to stay if you’re visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. It’s a bit expensive for what it is, but that’s Montrose."

The amenities, pool and hot tubs were fantastic. Short walk to town for little night life, property was well lit and easy to find Morning breakfast was easy and delicious, hot coffee and warm options. Already looking at dates to stay in a few months. Also a close hot springs near by"
