We ended up at El Cano unexpectedly having gotten caught up in the protests. The hotel turned out to be a peaceful haven as we waited out the road closures. It was quiet, safe, comfortable, and Lorena and David went out of their way to see that we were comfortable and had what we needed. We will definitely stay there again when we are in Quito.
The staff were amazing! Check-in time was 2 but I had traveled on an evacuation flight all night and not slept; they let me right into the room. There was no hot water, but maintenance fixed it immediately. There were two roaches in the bathroom (one survived). There was an event in the restaurant and the noise level was mind-blowing; I was unable to work. The food was meh at the restaurant. Bottom line - great staff made this place amenable.
