"Can’t fault the stay or the hotel"

"The property is an old building and we both thought that the rooms could do with a bit of an update - the bathrooms were very modern. The rooms and hotel were spotless, the staff were absolutely superb - so kind, helpful and polite. It was a lovely idea to have free bottles of water at reception when we arrived with the weather being hot. "This hotel has seen better days, though I would hazard a guess that they were a long time ago. It needs a lot of work doing to it to bring it in line with modern hotels, even budget ones. Having a double room with the bed pushed up against the wall, so you can only get out on one side is a really poor layout. The bathroom was really quite grotty and the room just felt grimy. "It was a nice enough hotel but I didn’t like the fact that you were charged for everything. The rooms were clean but fairly basically kitted out and for the luxury market they are aiming for they are slightly missing the beat. The service was ok but a little slow or not quite on the ball.
