"Car park is small and shared with the riverside cafe so can be full when you need to park. Bar area, eating area ok also good selection of beers. Accommodation is upstairs and it wasn't until the evening until noticed a problem. The rooms look out directly onto the outdoor roof terrace. If you wanted to open your window you would have people sat right outside of it!!. You had to close the window curtain/blind for privacy. No chance of getting sleep as the extremely loud drunken guests frequenting the pub/hotel come and go until closing time. Room extremely hot, fan provided so little sleep between this and the loud drunken guests on the roof terrace. Food don't bother unless you want a burger and that is all you will get. Breakfast is extra and charged at £10 and not the best quality. For starters not butchers sausage, bacon wafer thin. Not worth the money. On plus side staff at bar helpful and could not be faulted when checking in. Room was clean and large. Would not recommend or stay again."
"Entire place is very tried. Staff were young and joking around a lot. They found it very funny they gave a new customer the key for a room that a customer was already staying in, and they walked in on him changing! The menu sounded great but what arrived was very standard.
I’d give it a miss!"
"Very tired rooms, in really in need of maintenance. Overheard guests complaining to the management over lack of room cleaning, no clean towels, no beds being made, rooms not serviced at all.. there were multiple guests complaining.
Parking was great, very convenient. We didn't use the bar or have breakfast, I wouldn't stay again."
"Great location, lovely staff, comfy bed. Room and furnishings all looking pretty tired and like they could do with an update, and what looked like mould on the bathroom ceiling presumably due to the lack of ventilation there. Breakfast was fairly average. Would stay again but best not to have particularly high expectations."
"It was fine. A bit of a mixture, for example, beds in one room were really nice, bed in the other were way too soft. The food in the restaurant was fine, had the vibe of fine dining but not quite the quality.
Best part was the new words my son learnt starting with c and f. We were staying above a courtyard, I think near the kitchen and I think a groups of folk were discussing someone they knew, or possibly a female dog, it was difficult to tell."
"We really enjoyed our short stay here. The accommodation is immaculate. Such a lovely peaceful environment to stay. I would definitely recommend this stay to friends and family."
"It is a comfortable hotel with a slightly old fashioned feel, but it is a historic building and the staff are cheerful and helpful. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable and I appreciated the heavy curtains to cut out the sunlight. The stairs to the second floor were a bit tricky for an older guest when carrying luggage, although staff would have helped. I would certainly return."
"Second time staying there, lovely old place. Bar well stocked, dinner and breakfast excellent. Given single room at top of hotel - stonking hot but supplied with fan which helped. Bathtub comfortable but needs a grab rail on the wall for those of us less abled to help us climb out. Otherwise can’t fault it!"
