"Here's our experience with the Omni San Diego Hotel.
My family traveled to San Diego for the first time to attend our son's Marine graduation—one of the most important and memorable events of our lives. We chose this hotel based on its location and positive reviews.
The room itself was fine, and housekeeping did a decent job. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended.
Our son's graduation ended around 11:30 AM on Friday. We politely asked for a slightly later checkout so we could return, shower, change clothes, and collect our luggage before heading to the airport. The hotel offered only one extra hour—for an additional $50. Since that didn't really help our situation, we were forced to check out at 5:00 AM and drag all of our luggage with us to the graduation ceremony.
The front desk staff was unfriendly and, at times, outright rude. This was especially disappointing considering we weren't asking for anything unreasonable.
Another surprise was the "included breakfast" that somehow turned into a $35-per-person breakfast charge.
The pool was ice cold. The hot tub water was cloudy and looked dirty, and the hot tub itself wasn't even working. When we asked staff about it, we were basically told it wasn't their concern.
The food downstairs was overpriced and, frankly, not worth eating.
And as the cherry on top, this hotel sells a can of Coca-Cola for $5. A can that costs about 50 cents elsewhere. That's a 900% markup.
We left San Diego disappointed ."
