Clean and quiet

Clean, quiet, very comfortable, and centrally located for easy movement around the city and island. The kitchen was stocked with basics, space had a washing machine, and the common areas were spacious. Would def stay here again. Eduardo was very friendly and helpful as well

Excellent place to stay. Clean, spacious. Was there my entire trip. Location is very good and parking convenient. It is an easy drive to the east and west of the island. Ponta Delgada can be explored on foot. Eduardo was very helpful with good tips on how to explore the island and restaurant/food recommendations.

We stayed there in July/August 2023. Place was clean and the host was very helpful. Quiet back garden to chill out. Good location, walking distance to shops, cafes and botanical gardens. Surely would recommend and go back.

This is a delightful place in the middle of town. Perfect for walking to parks, the water, restaurants, the market and museums. The house is spacious and clean, and the host is accommodating. Two rooms are not en suite, so if that's important to you, make sure you double check. We got used to walking to the bathroom; it made it feel like we lived in the entire space. Very nice. Highly recommended.

This is really an exceptionally nice guest house. It is spacious, located in the middle of the touristic center, but with the big patio and garden it still offers a lot of calmness and relaxation. Rooms are big, clean and well-equipped. We also very much liked the fully equipped kitchen and the possibility to do laundry in the washing machine. The personnel was very nice and arranged a taxi transfer for us. We can clearly recommend to go here, it is a perfect location for a stay in Ponta Delgada.

I went in the off season so there were only ever a couple other guests in an 8 room Guesthouse - but the space is very well kept, clean, pretty. The courtyard is nice. Eduardo is helpful. I think it would be more difficult to share the kitchen space and you’d hear other people more if the place was full. Overall though - a good spot! Basically within the old city so it’s nice!

The best location in Ponta Delgada with the famous Mercado Market right in front of you and the shops and restaurants all nearby just a few minutes walkikg distance. Its also very quiet for sleeping even though you are right in the centre on a main road. The rooms are large and very comfortable beds and good dining area. The kitchen though is really small and it was good nobody else was using it when I had to cook my meals. Not enough room in the kitchen and little disorganized

Staff were friendly. Prompt check in. Staff held our bags after checkout as we were on a tour before our flight left that evening. Cozy, felt like home. Cleanliness needs some work. Rooms need updating, even just some pictures on the wall. Very convenient location, within walking distance to all of Ponta Delgada.

Highly pleased with our stay at Guest House Ao Mercado. Maria was amazing - so personable and accommodating! She went out of her way to make our experience was as pleasant as possible. The guest house has everything you could need and more, even freshly picked avocados from the garden. Super charming - made to feel like you're in your own home. Super clean and secure with a code to enter the facility and lock/key to room and bathroom. Walkable to all the hotspots in Ponta Delgada and parking was accessible whether it be street parking or parking lot 1-2 blocks down. Highly recommend! Will definitely be staying here again on my future trips to São Miguel.

Nice stay, Ao Mercado

Ao Mercado is a nice, small hotel in the middle of Punta Delgada. It's easy walking to main parts of the small town, convenient free parking nearby and plenty of coffee shops and restaurants nearby. It was raining quite a bit when I was there, and activities are limited to avoid it, but the nearby museums were excellent to pass time. The owner, Maria, was very responsive to calls/texts. I had an issue with low flow in the shower in my room when I checked in and she quickly responded and switched my room. The rest of my stay was lovely. There is a common area/living room which was being used by a family with a small child. I didn't spend much time in the hotel to take advantage of it or the kitchen and onsite laundry, but other guests seemed to appreciate them and use it!

Best place ever! Super clean, very old house with lots of love! Eduardo is super helpful and a very good host. I love the Garden with this huge Avocado tree and all the flowers. A gem in Ponta Delgada.

Beautiful guesthouse in central location

The guesthouse is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Large bedroom and plenty of shared spaces. Location is also excellent and close to everything in town on foot. Maria was a wonderful host and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable.

This was a lovely guest house, providing a quiet retreat very close to the busy town center. Kitchen facility allowed for some meals to be taken "at home". The owner was beyond helpful and accommodating. A great travel experience.

Such a treat to stay here! Immaculately clean, beautifully appointed and it's in a great walkable location in the historic part of Ponta Delgada. Maria is a treasure, very warm and inviting. She can help you arrange tours throughout the islands by mountain or road bikes, van and hiking tours. And the tea shop Terra Verde was amazing - great recommendation!
