Property was wonderful. Everything helped make us comfortable. The history surrounding the place is most interesting.
We were disappointed with the restaurant. Neither meal we had were, we felt, up to the standards we expected
The breakfast buffet was very good.
What a beautiful place to stay - pristine and quiet. The breakfast buffet was delicious and eating out on the patio was a delightful way to start the day.
It was a cute and quaint place to stay with the perfect restaurant and bar.

The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant is excellent. But my room was surprisingly dirty and worn. Music from outdoor entertainment on weekends intruded into the room. J. Ambler offers a variety of rooms of different quality located in various buildings on the premises. My recommendation is to avoid booking a room in The Barn building, the location of the restaurant and bar. Speak with the front desk first before booking a reservation.
The physical place itself was manicured. The buildings looked like you were back during the start of our country. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
The Queen suite was perfect, the grounds are beautiful, restaurant is excellent and the inn and surrounding area has so many fun, historical sites that we absolutely loved. This place is an absolute gem!
Very charming and historical spot. Bathrooms were very small. Heat wave was on when we were there and AC was struggling. Disappointing they were not more obvious re housekeeping on demand.
Property was beautifully maintained, helpful staff and cozy rooms! We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant, and enjoy continental breakfast. Highly recommend, will definitely be back.
Lovely property. Helpful staff. Clean rooms. Adequate breakfast. Only issue was that we could not control the temperature in our room. Both heating and cooling controls were in other areas and connected to other rooms beside ours.
Absolutely terrific inn. Beautiful park like seeing belaying the fact it is minutes from a major highway. Buildings are really beautiful. The staff is helpful. It was great sleeping with the windows open and fresh breezes keeping the room quite comfortable without using the A/C.
Breakfast is only available on the weekends from 8-9:30.
We were upstairs and I should note I'm 6'3", our room had gables and the ceiling was in the way of my head in the bathroom and on one side of the bead, plus there were lots of steps up to the room. Not a show stopper, but next time we'll stay downstairs
Loved the feel of this historic hotel. The staff was great at both breakfast and check in. Temperature control in the room was a challenge and would have appreciated a little more communication on cleaning the room for our 2 night stay. Overall, our visit was very good. We would return.
The room was fine, except there are no individual climate controls, grateful for the extra blanket since the AC was cold. Breakfast is "grab and go," but by the time I got to reception, there wasn't much to "grab." Please do check your reservation carefully if you book through a third party. We had booked three rooms, and only one was reserved. Also please be careful about billing. Even though they said there was only one reservation, they put two rooms on my credit card. Which was it - only one room reserved or two for billing purposes? Just be careful when reserving here.
Its a lovely property w/a farm feel. The staff were nice and the food was delicious.. happy hour was a great touch and max the bartender was on point with those margaritas!! The room however. I booked a queen suite w/sitting area and unfortunately got a king rm, which they said was an upgrade, but it had no separate sitting area which was why i choose the queen rm. I was definitely disappointed in that it made it harder to achieve my plans for the stay.. the checkout was smooth and the woman at the front desk was very insightful in telling me that some sites were advertising rooms that werent available and there was a meeting coming up to discuss the matter. All and all the Joseph ambler inn was a quiet relaxing stay. The grounds are beautiful and the accommodations are good.
Our seven-night stay was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had.
The property and historic buildings are beautiful, and we appreciate their charm. However, historic character shouldn't come at the expense of basic modern conveniences. In today's world, guests rely on cell phones and other devices, yet the electrical outlets in both rooms were so worn out they wouldn't hold a plug.
Our original room also had a slow-draining bathroom sink and peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling. We overlooked these issues until the air conditioning completely failed after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel temporarily repaired it with a replacement fuse, but it failed again the following night. After another exhausting day touring Philadelphia, we didn't get moved to another room until nearly 2:00 a.m., forcing us to pack and relocate in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, the replacement room had the same worn-out electrical outlets.
The staff was courteous and did their best to help. My frustration is with management for renting rooms with obvious maintenance problems. Functioning air conditioning, usable electrical outlets, working plumbing, and properly maintained rooms are basic expectations.
While the grounds are lovely, the guest rooms fell far below expectations. Considering the premium rates charged, we expected a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained room. Sadly, that was not the experience we had. We cannot recommend this property for a stay of any length
We had an amazing stay- parking was great, rooms comfy and staff friendly.

The property was nice and the staff was very nice. However, our air conditioner leaked water on the floor …. as in the floor was soaked. We reported it on Saturday night. We checked out Monday morning. It was never fixed. Their solution was to give us more towels to put on the floor. My husband had to walk on the soaked floor to get in and out of bed.
On a good note they serve an amazing complimentary breakfast on the weekend.
