My fiancé and I traveled from Orlando, FL to Philadelphia, PA for business meetings. I went to the counter to check in for our 3 night stay. I used my Business Mastercard to cover the incidentals charge and the reader said declined on the screen. I tried it again but used my personal Visa card and the reader said decline. Lastly I used my Business American Express card which never declines and it declined. I ended up calling American Express to see why my Business card declined. The account manger explained that my didn’t show a declined transaction on the American Express system and it was the merchants system that is not processing the payment. After my call with American Express, the front desk employee explained that the computer is saying not processed instead of declined. We had to switch to a different computer and card reader. On the first try the transaction was approved. This whole process took over 20 minutes of my time that I needed to be checked in and get prepared for my first business meeting.
It took 2 days for housekeeping to come and swap out the wash cloths and towels. They didn’t swap out the bed sheets and pillow covers. We wanted to get ice for the room but there was no ice machine. We had to ask the front desk for a bag of ice in which they keep some in refrigerator in the lobby.
