We absolutely loved our stay at the Quinta Dos Românticos. The staff was incredibly congenial and kind. We were treated wonderfully. Philip the chef was outstanding as were Isabel and Christiana. Could not get any better.

The property is extremely unique. The grounds and pool are fantastic. Each room is like staying at a turn of the century villa (with modern plumbing). And the restaurant is a gem. The place is a bit remote, but worth it. And the spa is unbelievable. Good value.

I was never able to get to the hotel due to road closures caused by flooding in the area. The hotel never communicated to me via any means before hand. I made multiple attempts trying to get to the hotel through different roads and all ended up being closed at a some point. The sun went down and it was very dark. We were lucky to eventually drive out of the scary dangerous roads. A refund request was denied by the hotel. While I understand the policy, I don’t understand why the hotel never contacted me about the road closures and as a result put me in a dangerous situation.

The room and surrounding vineyards were delightful, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. It was a wonderful place for us to be for a couple days and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

The surroundings are beautiful, all vineyards. Know that this is in a pretty isolated area and it requires driving on small two lane mountain roads with some hairpin turns to get here. We were practically the only guests here during our stay, and had a breakfast spread waiting for us each morning. We had the infinity pool to ourselves. The grounds are great. The room was kind of fancy looking, but romantic. (Note: glass walls on the bathroom.) Also note, you have to drive at least 15 minutes to town to get food or wine. The local town had excellent restaurants.

My wife and I and our little dog Charley are biking through Portugal and we wanted to stay at a special place near the end of our trip. Dos Romanticos exceeded all of our expectations. The place was incredible, the food was some of the best we have had and the staff was very nice. They accommodated our little dog running and playing soccer next to the pool. One of the highlights of our trip.

A magical place in The Douro Valley!

What a pleasant surprise when we arrived. It is certainly off the beaten path but many places in the Douro Valley seem to be. The description of this place on the website does not hold a candle to what we experienced. The welcoming staff(Christiana, Ines and Philippe) were present when we arrived. We had drinks served by Christiana, while our room was being prepared. We learnt more about the hotel, the history and the area. Philippe, the very talented and budding chef, amazed us with a fantastic dinner. Do opt for this if you are staying here. We were also provided with breakfast which was included with the stay. The infinity pool was welcoming as well to cool off after a warm Summer day. We were able to relax for the day after being in the city for the last week. The area was very quiet and safe.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE.

TLDR: We made the mistake of booking a hotel that only has 10 reviews - hopefully this one will prevent you from doing the same. The pictures of Quinta Dos Romanticos portray a picturesque location in the Douro valley. We were extremely disappointed to arrive in the middle of a small town, between crumbling houses and dirty alleyways. We were given a room that was facing the neighbors’ back yard, and unwillingly became a part of this family’s life, hearing every bit of the couples' loud arguments and their baby’s crying. But, the absolute worst part was the 2 dogs that must've not been fed for days, as they were barking NON STOP. The manager on site took us to see 2 other rooms that had the same issue of barking dogs, which was unbearable. We decided to stay the night, but leave in the morning and cancel our additional 2 nights. The manager confirmed the cancellation, and said that we would take care of the refund in the morning. Based on this verbal commitment, we had already booked another hotel. Later that night we received a message from the manager saying he spoke to the owner, and that they only agreed to refunding one night out of the two. Concluding this saga with the hotel going back on their word and refusing to refund us for the 2 nights we did not stay there, has proven to us without any doubt that this is not an establishment that appreciates its clientele. Honestly, with a location and facility so poor, that is the least one could expect.

Hele mooie plek om te verblijven. Het was alleen jammer dat het leek alsof we tussen drukke periodes kwamen. De mooie tuin stond er een beetje rommelig en verlaten bij. Maar personeel was uiterst behulpzaam en vriendelijk.

Superbe batisse, excellent accueil, personnel au top, petit déjeuner copieux, pas déçu du tout par ce choix! Seul reproche, le tarif (très) excessif du restaurant, et ce même si le plat servi (côtes d'agneau) était excellent! Il faut préciser que l'hotel est à une vingtaine de minutes de Peso Da Regua (petite route très sinueuse), si bien qu'on évite d'y redescendre le premier soir pour manger
