We enjoyed the natural beauty at this place, with many beautiful trees, flowers, and birds flying through. Within a short walk is a National Park Research station that is caring for blind Gaurs, the largest wild cattle in the world. We were actually able to pet and feed one of them. The breakfast was basic fried rice or porridge without any fruit, so you might want to bring something with you as it's a long walk to 7-11. The pool is fairly short and shallow, but beautiful and refreshing.

The room was spacious with comfortable firm mattress on bed and pillows (a bit soft but still ok). There is a mini fridge, coffee/tea making facility, shower chamber (water pressure is low), shower gel and shampoo, but no body lotion. The shower head angle cannot be adjusted. No room slippers provided. Wifi in the room does not work. Breakfast limited selection and coffee/tea same selection as in the room. The cafe is only open for breakfast. The check in/reception is the cafe bar counter.

Brilliant one night stay in great comfort.

Prior to arriving, I was a bit worried because of the numerous negative reviews for this place, but Lucerne was absolutely PERFECT for me. The staff checking in was a bit "rough in the edges", while the staff tending to the kitchen and restaurant was BRILLIANT. Upon checking in, a dinner-order was also placed for a particular time that evening, and they called the villa as the food was served. The food - tom yum kung soup and fried rice - was really, really delicious and just the way I personally liked it. The room was clean and the bed was great. In the evening, there was way too many mosquito's to sit outside, but the resort offered complimentary mosquito-oil almost before asking. Therefore, I think the staff was extremely insightful, understanding, forward-thinking and helpful. There was not much in the immediate area outside the resort, but if you come with an own car, it should not pose too much of a problem.

Do Not Book The Container Room

We just stayed in the container room at Lucerne. In the hotel's pictures, it's the small red building. While the rest of the resort seemed okay enough (small pool and meh breakfast, but nice staff), the container room was awful. Once we arrived, we realised that all the pictures of the hotel are of the other rooms in the resort. There are no pictures of the container room and once we arrived we could see why. The room was run down, dirty and dingy. Worst part...it was full of bugs. There was an ant infestation in both bedrooms and the bathroom. The bathroom was also full of daddy long legs in every corner. I think I counted about 12 of them. There was a spider in our bed. My kids were scared of all the bugs and we were creeped out too. We arrived back to the hotel at about 10:00pm. There was a big party going on at the main building of the resort, only meters from our room. It was so loud with people singing karaoke. This room was for families...we were hoping for something a bit quieter and family friendly. The party went until about midnight. The location of the hotel is a little bit of a distance from some of the attractions in the area, but was scenic. Just don't stay in the container room. We felt quite deceived. If we'd realised there are no pictures of the interior prior to booking, we wouldn't have booked. We only stayed one night.
