"While Expedia listed our room as “not in main building, canal view”, there was no indication on the map of the property that our room would be in a building across a road with vehicles traveling 55+mph. The staff was kind and the property nice, but we were disappointed to have to either watch for speeding vehicles or get in our car to drive and park the car in order to sit by the water. The main property was relaxing, but it felt stressful to know we couldn’t walk out of our room and get to the beach, on site restaurant, or amenities without crossing the busy main road, especially at night for dinner. With my two sons along, I didn’t feel comfortable sending them across to the main areas without accompanying them. The one bedroom was large and our outdoor balcony was very nice and spacious. It may have been on me to figure out that we had to cross the street to get to the water, but the map was definitely not clear upon booking. "
"Ok so couple issues!
We luv Checca but this time was just meh!
1)So not huge issue but while fishing hook came off only had use one rod for more than half of time. When returned we advised situation and personnel clearly to bust to be bothered. It’s not about the cost issue it comes down to basic customer service issues! For a place like this and for the rates they charge the experience should be close to spectacular!
2) food? Hmm where do I begin? Normally we would never complain and say sometimes it’s part of it, but when there’s an issue more than once it’s not a fluke!
Service at pool and beach always busy. Not really staff or server isssue, but if your waiting an hour -1hr 30mins for food that’s an issue. When you wait that long and it’s cold! That’s another issue. When it’s cold and u get FF that are never good cold, when they arrive looking like they were basted in oil soggy dripping with lifelessness especially when that’s all u order sides of fries? Really how hard is it to fry fries? B4 responding my family owned and operated seafood and steak restaurants for 30 years and I worked every station often so I know the answer!
3)so golf in pretty ruff shape from tools to use to maintenance of the course. I know it’s a luxury item not professional course etc but it should still be maintained with a standard that it clearly isn’t!
4) the mattresses in the bedroom were toast! You sank well I could continue but I’m just not going to!
This trip sadly not a great experience "
"Ocean view, clean and spacious. Convenient parking out front. Staff was very friendly and was available to answer any questions.
Disappointed though that the restaurant was not operating nor the Tiki Bar. Our cottage was not outfitted with a blender or kettle. "
"Incredible location, peaceful and beautifully maintained surroundings, fantastic “Old Florida” charm, and very clean rooms, kitchen is a huge bonus, water views are truly special."
"This was absolutely horrible! Amara Cay overbooked us, tried to blame Expedia, ruined our trip and moved us to their sister site even though our friends were staying there. "
"This is not a very great "resort" or hotel be any means. Cleaning is minimal. Found hair all over the linen, so it wasn't washed. Kinda yuck.
Staff: says front desk is open 8a - 4p. A sign on the door says 9:30a to 4p, but they don't open until sometime way after 9:30. No vending machines. No way to get any equipment or towels because the office is closed so much.
No idea what the wifi password was. Couldn't find it and office was not ooen to ask.
AC window units are rough, rusted out. Rooms are tiny, best for only 2-3 people.
Nice pool and view of ocean. You CANNOT SWIM at the beach. There is a seawall. But that is the theme for most of the Keys.
On a scale of 1-10, my wife, daughter, and I all agree it is a 5 to 6."
"I’m not sure I would ever stay at La siesta again. It has potential to be a good resort but the lack of process, management, communication and hospitality makes me think that it won’t ever be (unless a new management company takes over). This will also make me steer clear of their sister resorts, Amara Cay and Three waters.
Room issues aren’t taken care of (like broken floor boards, broken shower valves, broken fridges, missing curtains) - resort issues aren’t taken care of (broken pool drains around the entire pool, very dirty pool, unkept beach area) and lack of service and direction for guests (no direction on pool towels, not refilling pool towels when you finally find them, no clarity on where to put used pool towels which leads to piles of used towels everywhere, trash being left around the pool).
The paying customer is ignored! This is my biggest complaint. When trying to check in our room wasn’t ready, that’s fine - front desk said they would call when it was ready. Did they call? Nope. I had to guess that it was enough time and to my shock, it was ready without the phone call. Next my husband went to the office to get room maintenance to come to our room (missing curtains in bedroom and non-functioning fridge). The front desk said maintenance would be to our room in a few minutes. 2 hours later no one! My husband had to return to the front desk to urge them to send a maintenance person. 20 min later he came and zip tied blanket as a curtain and no backup fridges"
