"Hotel IJ is a gem of a property deep in Basque country. Set in a gorgeous rural environment atop a small village and surrounded by hills and farms, it is the perfect country getaway. The building is as stunning as the photographs and the rooms have an elegant\ vintage charm to them. Regarding food, breakfast was our favourite meal with dinners at the cafe being little underwhelming. We never got a chance to try the fine dining option. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. I want to put a special mention and appreciation for some front desk staff members who went above and beyond to assist me with a concern with my car rental. I was treated unprofessionally by Avis with a car breakdown but the staff helped me with the language barrier and service concern in a foreign country and I really want to thank them for that and look forward to visiting again. "
