Aloft Omaha Aksarben Village is conveniently located near the University of Nebraska Omaha’s main campus in the Midtown area of the City. There are many options within walking distance for food, and the hotel is a short drive from the Old Market area and downtown. It’s proximate to the Baxter Arena, and about a mile north of I-80. I was expecting a better experience at a Marriott-branded hotel, however. We stayed two nights, and each day there was disappointment. First night, the HVAC system malfunctioned, leaving the room cold and causing the system to function continuously, blowing cold air over us as we tried to sleep. In the morning, showering was complicated by a lack of continuous hot water pressure, causing the temperature to change suddenly. Finally, housekeeping left a lot to be desired. Guests must request housekeeping in advance, which we did. Though garbage was disposed of and new towels provided, the bed was not re-set, plastic cups were not replenished, and the longer we spent in the room, the more we noticed that it hadn’t been cleaned very thoroughly before our stay. Overall, a disappointment considering we had stayed in other Aloft locations where none of these problems existed. On the bright side, staff was quite responsive, polite, and apologetic when I brought up the shortcomings of the room upon check-out.

The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and the staff friendly and courteous. The parking is free and convenient. The price was very reasonable. The room is not well-designed. There is only a partition between the bathroom and sleeping area and there is glass section of the partition so the sleeping area is lit up if someone uses the shower or sink while someone else is in the bed. The shower is extremely slippery and since there is no door to the shower area you freeze when you exit the shower. When I searched for a hotel I specifically searched for one that included breakfast but this was not the case. There is no real restaurant, only some pre-prepared items that they can heat up.
