The Walnut Tree Inn is a lovely place to stay. We enjoyed the large, tastefully furnished, room and bathroom and the food in the bar was very good.
The two negative points would be the train noise every 15-30 until late into the evening and the sink in the bathroom was too shallow to actually wash in.
Comfortable room for 2 adults and 2 children which met our expectations. Unfortunately we arrived late and left early so it was only a brief visit but what we did experience (bar, bed and breakfast) was all very good! In fact breakfast was very, very good!! It was a shame we missed the restaurant as the menu looked delicious, the staff at the hotel suggested alternatives (local pizza delivery service) but at that stage after a long drive we were just happy to have a drink and some bar snacks (crisps) before getting an early(ish) night for the following days!
Booked The Walnut Grove as a one night stay while visiting the area for a family funeral. The location was nice and close by the venue . Our room was spacious and clean and the breakfast very good. The staff were friendly and polite. Would stay again should we return to the area.
Great stay. Room was huge family room, comfy beds and clean. We ate in hotel restaurant and food was tasty and service was good at dinner and breakfast next morning.
Excellent Restaurant, but the rooms a little tired
The Walnut Tree is a lovely place, the room tidy and clean, if a little tired. Food and restaurant is excellent.
Would I go there again? Yes, I'm booked in for next week.
very clean Staff very good Food good
Music in the Bar on Saterday evaning good
Till a lady sitting at the bar started Vapping preferd it if she was smoking
Simple but clean comfortable beds, good food served and friendly staff…. Done side, bed shaking every time a train went past up until 11.00 and started again around 5.30 am
The Walnut is a lovely hotel and restaurant. My room, while clean and tidy, was really small and lacked, what I call, basic amenities. ie wardrobe, table etc.
Would I recommend the Walnut? Yes, of course. But don't pick the single room.
