Staff were very friendly & helpful, food in the restaurant was very good as was the service. The only disappointment was the Room, very tired & dated decour and furniture. Bathroom was just the same, however the shower was excellent !

Shabby run down hotel
Hotel needs a complete refurb. Very shabby, had to switch rooms as l had no heat the first night

The staff at the hotel and in the restaurant were great, and could not have been more helpful. The breakfast was average I had veggie option and sausages felt like they were wrapped in plastic, husband had normal and he also felt his sausages were poor, Coffee option not good. The room we were in def needs updating, hole/dent in bathroom door, musky smell on first entering room. When flushing the toilet water pressure so great that even with lid/seat down the floor got wet also the seat, so I had to remember to wipe the seat dry every time. The Shower was extremely hard to get to correct temp, and because only shower curtain floor was far too wet after which could be a slip hazard. Main door closer was hanging off. The biscuits in the room were a nice touch.

The hotel was closed when I arrived later in the evening and I had to walk around in the dark car park to try to find reception which wasn’t clearly marked. It was closed too but I managed to find someone in the bar opposite and they told me the hotel had been closed because there was no hot water. Apparently tired let me a phone message but this hadn’t come through because I’d been out of signal area. They should have emailed me. I am a 75 years old lady who does not enjoy trying to find accommodation in my own in the dark. Why wasn’t there a phone number to ring? I am disgusted especially as I was tolls by the barcstaff that they had rung me 3 times and left messages as if it was my fault!!! There was only one message that came through and no other missed calls on my phone.

Accommodation needs a good refurb
The accommodation was sadly rather tired and the cleanliness left much to be desired. Although it was Halloween weekend there were far too many spiders and cobwebs to be acceptable. The cleaning was perfunctory. Bathroom waste bin was not emptied during whole stay of 4 nights. On a more positive note the bed was comfortable and the bedding clean. There was plenty of hot water. The restaurant staff were lovely and the breakfast/evening meals were good.

Great Friends Weekend
Very Clean, great service, receptionist & Bar staff very helpful. Room was fine but in need of new decoration, but didnt affect my stay, would stay again.

Disappointed
Staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant food and service very good. Sadly the room (room 51) although cleanish, was very run-down and in serious need of major refurbishment. Also window security stay was broken, toilet roll holder broken and horrible stale smell from the bathroom. You could also clearly hear the guests above walking, and using and flushing the wc. I don't know if all the rooms are like this but sadly I shall not be risking it

Suppose to pay on site on arrival. Had phoned hotel 2 days before stay to check if i could pay cash.was told yes as long as i had identification with me. Ariived only to discover you had already taken money out of my account.leaving me overdrawn at bank for which i am now going to be charged for !!! Not good enough. I trusted the information i was given.what are you going to do about it

Unsatisfactory
Stayed for work for 2 consecutive weeks. 1st week the hotel room I was allocated, when i tried to entre the room, it was already occupied by someone who had broken in and was staying there so had to be given a second room. The second stay, the shower head was broken and flooded out the bathroom and on the final nights stay, i discovered the the door had not been looking throughout my stay.

lacking investment" is epitomised here
The Staff are great, the welcome warm and helpful, just spot on. Sadly that's the end of the positives, the time honoured phrase "lacking investment" is epitomised here. The rooms the plumbing and the creaking floors ensure no sleep and a real struggle to shower. Sadly never again.

Rooms could do with a refurb shower ok Beds good need more tea coffee and sugar in the rooms on arrival, food was good breakfast wasnt open until 8 on sunday so couldnt get a breakfast before we left

This hotel is gem of a place stop here a lot over last few months with work Room are always very comfortable,clean and quiet large Car park is great size and the food from pub is very good

Booked at the last minutes due to cancellation of booking at original hotel. Staff in all areas very helpful and friendly. Everything in the room was clean, tidy and comfortable. My only slightly negative comment would be on the decor, both inside and out. It was a little shabby, but this was offset by the beautiful view over the fields. I was told that this block of rooms were due for renovation work, so I could overlook the neglect. I also assumed that following on from Covid that these rooms had not been used in some while and had been bought back into use due to the closure of several local hotels belonging to big chains.

Thumbs up from me
While the hotel room could be updated, its reflected in the price, which makes it excellent value for money, and the staff are wonderful. There is a Chef and Brewer restaurant linked to it, and again, the staff are lovely. Great food. All in all, what more could you possibly want (other than ideally another plug socket). Will be back.
