The room was ok, bed was comfortable, bath wasn't the greatest, but we only slept there, so for the price it was fine. Just outside was a little messy and junky. Parking lot gravel needed help. The staff were great, taking us to our room and starting the AC for us. Was a cute lodge, just a little messy outside.
Went to check in and the place smelled terrible and was so run down, I chose not to stay. It did not feel safe. I asked for a refund from Expedia, but the property manager denied it. Expedia gave me one key credit, which was nice, and I went elsewhere.
If you're looking for the Waldorf Astoria, this ain't it! Still I give it high marks and look forward to returning. The room was comfortable and practical. We had everything we needed. The price was reasonable - especially for "pet friendly" and the hosts, Sam and Mita, made us feel like we were staying with family. This area was hit hard by Hurricane Helene and a few items still need a little "tightning up" such as pot holes at the hotel entrance, but the massive efforts on post hurricane renovation are also evident. As stated, we'll be back!

Room was like stepping back into the 50s it was clean and the bed was comfortable but the pillows were hard. Decor looked more Florida than mountains. Front office was a mess. Lady at front desk was more interested in arguing with person on phone about grass being unkempt than checking people in until male came in and spoke to her in another language she then hang up quickly and began checking people in. Like I said though it was a clean room with a comfortable bed.
Absolutely wonderful stay at Parkview Lodge & Cabins! My boyfriend and I had such a lovely experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. They were thoughtful enough to offer us extra towels and even provided water, which made us feel so well taken care of.
What really stood out to us was how accommodating and helpful everyone was. We accidentally left my boyfriend’s pillow behind, and they were kind enough to agree to ship it all the way to us in Florida rather than simply leaving us to figure it out ourselves. That level of kindness and customer service is so rare and really says a lot about the people who run this place.
The lodge and cabins made our stay feel comfortable, peaceful, and memorable. We’re so grateful for how warmly we were treated and would absolutely 100% recommend Parkview Lodge & Cabins to anyone visiting Avery County, North Carolina. We would happily stay here again! ❤️
This lodge is family owned and they were extremely nice. They made us feel welcome and provided all help we needed. They are working on remodeling but you can tell they working hard to restore this nostalgic lodge.
My son and I (and two dogs) stayed here for one night during a road trip for hiking. From reading the old reviews it seems like the new owners have really been putting in hard work to bring this place back to life; they are still working on it but everything was clean and amenities have been upgraded from previous photos such as flat screen tv with plenty of satellite channels and a ceiling fan with a remote (which I had to take a picture of because I loved it and want to find one for myself). If you want fancy and new this isn't the place for you but if you are like me and enjoy the motels with midcentury history but modern upgrades, it's a great stay. They accommodated my dogs for a lower pet fee than anywhere else and the customer service couldn't have been any better. I'd definitely stay again.

Friendly staff, clean, safe, but the room smelled musky and could use some updating.

This is a very old property. The current owners are trying to update everything. I wish I could give it a higher rating because they're trying so hard. The rooms are very dated but the beds were comfortable. They are updating the rooms one at a time The location is great, less than half a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hopefully they can revive this motel.
There's a great restaurant down the road in Linville Falls called The Famous Rockhouse. I highly recommend them for breakfast.
From the outside this place looked like it was under construction or closed. There were mattresses stacked on a trailer and a few people milling around in the parking lot that gave it the appearance of an abandoned property.
I am in the process of requesting a refund because I did not feel safe staying there and chose to go somewhere more appealing and safe looking.
