We left after just 4 hours because the property was nothing like the listing. The photos give a far better impression than the reality.
Before arrival, I had to chase the host for check-in instructions as nothing had been sent. Even after calling, I was only given the key safe code. Later that day, after we’d already left, I received an email stating there was a £100 charge per pet, despite the Hotels.com listing clearly advertising “pets go free.”
The property appeared to have had only cosmetic improvements. The driveway slabs were broken and uneven, causing our 5-year-old to trip several times. Inside, we found dirty bathroom flooring, loose kitchen cupboard doors, a faulty sink plug, mould in the fridge water dispenser, unusable Wi-Fi, and an overall poor standard of maintenance. Our daughter also found a suspicious stain on her bed and refused to sleep in it.
Outside, the decking was rotten, the garden furniture was broken, the BBQ was rusted, guttering was hanging loose, and broken sheds and outside toilets were filled with car parts, creating several safety hazards for children.
Hotels.com requested a refund on our behalf because we left almost immediately, but the host declined. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this property.
