This is an excellent place to stay when we attend concerts at the Kee to Bala. It's fun and a relaxed fun environment within walking distance. The staff is always amazing when we come.

We had a great one night stay - in Bala for a concert at The Kee. Rooms are not generally air conditioned but we lucked out with one. Clean and well taken care of. Would definitely stay again but would insist on an air conditioner!

Went for a concert Location was great however zero AC and no fridge in room and no place to put your close Felt like we were camping , not at a hotel Staff was friendly.. but would never stay there again

Our room was clean. It wax only a bed, 2 night stands, a tv & bathroom. No closet or dresser Our floor slanted downwards from the window. The bathtub was not level - the water did not drain. There was nobody at the desk when we checked out.

The structure of the building is off kilter, and the rooms feel like your on a ship, as it’s so slanted, and it throws off your equilibrium and if you suffer vertigo issues, might cause problems. The bed slanted as the whole floor is, so we tried sleeping where the opposite way at our feet end, otherwise we would have been slanted in an uncomfortable position. There were tiny ants in the bathroom everywhere and a hole in the floor!

Great location for seeing a show at the Kee. Room was generally clean and the bathroom had some more updated pieces. Unfortunately, the window AC unit was leaking so there was a huge wet spot on the floor and the room smelled musty. No dresser in the room was odd, and some slats on the bed were broken. Overall the property is showing its age though it has character that I like. Probably wouldn't stay there again for the price paid.

Way overpriced for what you get, there is an a straight floor or wall or bathtub or vanity or light fixture in that place the air-conditioning is terrible. The place is very warm and humid. Feels like the carpet has layer on top of layer. The bed frames were broken in two different rooms that we were in the plumbing was backed up in the bathroom of one of the rooms that we were in . The patio around the building is rotten and falling off and non-usable. The ghost kitchen was closed during our stay the only coffee there was a Keurig machine in the lobby.once a beautiful hotel I’m sure but is very rundown now, but it is right across the street pretty much from the kee to Bala, the room did include the Muskoka beer day spa, which was really nice and a shuttle to and from. We will be visiting Bala again sometime, but will not be staying at the Bala Bay Inn.

For an older building, the rooms are well kept and clean. Floors are a bit squeaky but adds the the nostalgia and authenticity of the place. Wonderful staff and close to everything including Kee to Bala.

Nothing close to how it was described by your site. Sign in your post says "Bar open". It wasn't! Dining room/ restaurant was closed! Cheap 3 legged bedside tables, really? Extension cords used for an overhead industrial style light? Double extension cords to operate a window air conditioner, illegal perhaps? Black painted suspended ceiling with down brown walls made the room feel like a cell. No fridge, no microwave, no closet for clothes, bat towels placed on the bed, as no room in bathroom for them. No elevator, very low ceiling while walking up the stairs. I almost bumped my head, I'm 6' tall. We did not stay the night, my wife and were disappointed to say the least. This is a very old establishment built in 1911 we very little improvements, exception the washroom which was OK. I think they are depending on nostalgia of the ways things were as an attraction. I'm in my 80's and not impressed. At my age this could be our last trip North. Sorry to say, we were mislead by the write up.

This is a classic inn that is scheduled for a massive renovation. Over the years there have been attempts to improve and maintain, lipstick on a pig. It’s good to lay your head for a night after being at The Kee or snowmobiling all day. It’s a functional place to stay, no frills or extras. The black painted ceiling was concerning about what it might be hiding. The bathroom had been partially updated and was clean. Strange to not have overhead lighting or lamps. We had one chair and one table so the room wasn’t well equipped to linger at all. The bed slats were so thin, some had been replaced and some were missing, which made trusting the bed very challenging. Hotel furniture needs to be durable and sturdy, if you sat on the corner or even put your hand on it you would go through. Raw uncovered light bulbs in original fixtures that half been painted over was also interesting. In our room the bedding seemed very clean and the carpet was newer, the room smelled clean as well. This was pleasing. The window air conditioner worked well so the room was temperate. Evening staff had a lot to deal with and were not very helpful or even intuitive about their job in hospitality. The best part was access to The Beer Spa included in our stay. What a great partnership and the experience there was outstanding.

Worst hotel experience ever. The lack of basics like a dresser or a table or a closet. And you can't put your things on the floor because the portable AC unit in the room is causing a puddle in the carpet. If you try hanging your stuff on the little command hooks on the walls, they'll fall and take a chunk of drywall with them. There was a TV but no remote. There was trash under the bed. The decorations on the wall were damaged. No fridge, so bring a cooler, but be prepared to haul it up 3 flights. The lighting is very dim in the room. The only good thing is location and access to the Beer spa. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very expensive in my opinion. I was expecting luxury. Not a slum

This property shouldn’t be for rent! We paid $300 plus tax and it was worth $75 It was like staying in a Hostel The room had no where to put or hang clothes. A garage sale chair and an ikea still table as a bedside table. And only one! No plugs accessible near the bed for chargers or apnea machine. Not even any plastic cups in the washroom for water or a hair dryer supplied The main light was a lightbulb on a cord hanging from a hook on the ceiling. I have stayed in many small motels across Ontario on trips and this is the absolute worst !! The front desk staff know the issues and were so apologetic but could do nothing. It’s a management issue not staffing. And to top it off there was some type of ac unit or compressor budding all night below our room to drive us crazy. My advice. Don’t book here

I love this old beauty, she is full of character and the staff are super nice and helpful. The rooms are very clean but basic and may or may not have air conditioning or a fan. A great place to stay when going g to a concert at the Kee.
