We enjoyed our stay, but I do wish the place was a little cleaner. The shared bathroom (upon our arrival) had small hairs all over the sink and vanity like someone had emptied their electric shaver over it. Also, the doors to the rooms, including the shared bathroom, have no locks on them. The breakfast was very filling, and Mary (the hostess) was nice to talk to.
We're not sure how accurate the description of this B&B is on the website but it seems like this venue needs some TLC. We were very disappointed when we arrived in that it was apparent that our room was someone's personal bedroom with all their affects still in place. Needless to say, it made us VERY uncomfortable plus the house needed a good cleaning. We love dogs and theirs seemed very sweet(& elderly) but there was a strong odor throughout in addition to a musty, mildewy one. We decided we couldn't stay there and were able to find another hotel in town. We were in Muscatine to visit friends. Unfortunately, it was too late to cancel so we had to pay for the room. The owner did not offer any partial discount even though the room we booked was not acceptable for paying guests.
We were disappointed for the following reasons, hostess was barefoot all the time, hostess controlled the conversation all the time, cobwebs all over, only had one washcloth for the two of us. The breakfast was very Very good and very generous portions.
Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed their "official greeter" dog. She escorted us to the truck and back as we were unpacking. Breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed our stay and the location was near where we were going to worship service on Sunday morning after checkout (Muscatine church of Christ just a few blocks away).
Restful and relaxing, and an awesome breakfast! The rooms are not huge, and the floors creak - yes, but that is part of the charm. We stayed in the room pictured. You'll be greeted by Maggie, the golden retriever, and from there on, you'll forget about the world around you.
