"Clean room. Nice walks nearby. Excellent breakfast. Short drive to Glacier which was a lovely walk. Not much of a town more a strip of hotels and tourists spots but decent bars and restaurants. We loved Monsoon. Wouldn’t want to stay more than one night. "

"Clean room but the whole place needs updating, and sooner rather than later. Small tweaks would improve it : better in room kitchen, there was an unsafe tap; tidy up the grounds, we had a view of an abandoned motel; get a new sign up. And finally, consider opening up the on site restaurant. There is a fantastic view of Mount Cook from here, the motel should make more of it. I wouldn't recommend staying here in it's present state."

"Old, worn, tired lodge, stained pillows, worn mattress, the hot pools so very much advertised to enjoy according to brochure are payable!!! Misleading photos, take them down. 60% of the washing machines and dryers were 'out of order'. Asked for a cabin and got a 'downgrade' to a 2 bunk bed, 6 dorm room, thankfully to ourselves, noisy neighbours, noisy doors, never staying again."

"The lone staff person I met was friendly and polite. This is mostly a hiker hostel. Our room with the twin beds was totally appropriate (and what was expected for the affordable price). This is not a lux hotel and doesn't sell itself that way. Full bathroom, functional and clean plumbing, a common area kitchen with most of what one needs to prep a meal (bring your own paper towels, maybe plates/glasses and understand this is shared low-cost housing). That said, the facility is in dire need of exterior maintenance. Not sure how they could afford all that needs to be done with the vacancies we saw on our visit, but the grounds and building exterior could use hundreds of hours and maybe thousands of dollars to really dress it up. It has so much potential - if the area through-traffic would support it. There's a restaurant attached to the building, but it is closed. The cafe on the same property wasn't open when we stayed - didn't look to be operational. There is a gas station right across the way, several competing (no vacancy) hotels and hostels, a dairy-type convenience store and two cafes (breakfast and a really crowded and understaffed lunch/dinner/bar) just a block away. Seriously, if you are looking for a place to park your tired legs after hitting the nearby glaciers and hiking trails, or a heli ride/tour, and you aren't seeking fancy, the rooms are totally adequate to sleep. Just don't expect chocolates on your pillow."
