Fantastic, free camping... pretty little spot by the river. This is up in the high country of Victoria. Near Craig's Hut where the movie 'Man from Snowy River ' was filmed. Camping area is called Bindaree Flats, an old cattlemen's hut is opposite us...2 wheel drive access to this point on a rough road though...but ok to drive on. Grab a map and go!

Bindaree Hut, lovely old cattlemen's hut at Bindaree Flats on Mt Stirling. Free camping, bush... mountains... animals going bump in the night... gorgeous. Grab a map and head up to Mt Stirling on the circuit road. Northern Victoria, about 5 hours from Melbourne.
Just love this area. Bindaree Falls is a pretty spot on the road down to a free camping area called Bindaree Flats. The hut that was used in the Australian Movie 'Man from Snowy River' is nearby too. This is known as the Victorian High Country - weather can be unpredictable - so pack well and take in food - loads of free camping area- grab a map too! If you make it to Mount Buller this season make sure you hike up to the Summit. I'm only an intermediate skier so I left my skies down the bottom and walked the final 100m from the Summit chair lift. You can ski blue and green runs all the way down from there. It's a lovely view, especially at sunset. :)
