A most memorable birthday!

Amazing service from Grace, Johnston, Philemon, Constance, Gerald, Elias and the breakfast team! We had a warm welcome with a cold drink and refreshing wet hand towel despite arriving late for our check-in. The chalet and private pool was spotless and comfortable albeit a little outdated in terms of decor and finishes. Breakfast was a daily highlight with food well prepared with fresh, quality ingredients. It was my 40th birthday during our stay and I was treated to the most beautiful cake and surprise on returning to our room that evening. The game drives were well executed and the rangers very knowledgeable although we were a bit disappointed that there were some animals no longer in the reserve despite being mentioned on the website, which seems outdated. The night drive was sadly a disappointment as we saw very few animals but that is a risk you always take in the natural environment. We did get a glimpse of the resident leopard. The spa was pleasant and in a beautiful setting although the shower did not work properly and the therapist seemed a little disorganised. Any expectation not met was completely mitigated by the wonderful experience created for us by the team who work there. We were sorry to say goodbye. Overall, we would definitely recommend Witwater Safari Lodge and Spa and will go back soon.

Nice and friendly place

I had an extended weekend i had to kill. Took two night at Witwater. Extremely nice serive. Nice surroundings. Food ok. Surrounding is nice but i did not see a lot of game.

Staff and food is absolutely amazing. Our chalet was beautiful. We had a lovely time.

Blown Away!

We were greeted upon arrival by the team and offered a cool drink. Within m inutes we were in the back of one of their modern safari jeeps and taken to the Leopard Lodge. Wow, what a huge, luxurious lodge that this is. Every conceivable necessity for a comfortable stay was there for us in the lodge. Dining at their restaurant whether for dinner or breakfast was a sumptious experience, the food deliciously fresh and served with flair and elegance. The after game drive was an awesome experience and we didn't realise that we would be having high tea with a wonderful white rhino. The boys loved the morning archery and the bush walk to see the cave paintings was a trunly invigorating experience. The ranger we had for the duration was so knowledgeable and taught us so much. If you get a chance for the night game drive then you should take the opportunity as you will see diffrent animals to the day drive. We also indulged in the spa treatments and what a peaceful, tranquil experience that was too. I cannot recommend this place enough!!!

Fantastische safari lodge vlakbij Johannesburg

We hebben een fantastisch verblijf gehad. Luxe tenten en huisjes met prive zwembad, erg ruim en veel privacy. Allen aan de rivier gelegen. Een restaurant met super eten, prachtig opgemaakt. Aan alles blijkt dat men het je naar de zin wil maken. Tijdens game-drive veel dieren gezien en ranger Frans vertelde veel over de gewoonten, vegetatie en sporen. Men neemt alle tijd en het voelde als een waar avontuur. We zijn niet toe gekomen aan de spa, maar hopen zeker terug te komen.

Formidable adresse

formidable adresse avec une équipe très accueillante. avons séjourné 3 nuits avec nos 2 enfants (3&6) dans un des 3 chalets. le calme des lieux est très appréciable. Avons profité des soins du spa de très bonnes qualités. Seul point négatif la distance entre les chalets et le Lodge principal (il faut prendre la voiture)

fabulous break for our 30th anniversary.

The staff at this lodge are absolutely amazing - really go out of their way to serve and are so friendly. this includes all of the staff but Johnson stood out as he was our main waiter. lovely calm relaxing environment, excellent food. wi fi slow so no googling but read and relaxed and used the spa and game drives - all in all a fabulous break for our 30th anniversary.

Wonderful stay at Witwater Lodge and Spa

We had a short one night stay at Witwater Lodge and Spa which was wonderful. Spa setting is peaceful, serene. Would have liked more treatments but unfortunately was booked up. Looking forward to our next stay there asap!

Det er en safari logge, men de har ikke elefanter, løver eller bøfler i deres område. Telefon og wifi forbindelse svigtede.

Overall great stay!

We, 2 adults/2 kids 8 & 11, stayed at the Self-Catering River Chalet. A bit dated, specially the bathrooms, but ok. Good privacy, no close neighbors. Really nice with a large deck and small private pool. We did not bring any food and ate all meals at the restaurant. The food was great, especially the dinner! There are no Wifi in the Chalets. The hospitality/service was great. The game drives was ok, but we are spoiled from Kruger Sabi Sands. The best thing about the game drive was that we did get to see cheetahs up close, by foot, lying just 10 meters in front of us. Please note that the last 40min is on a, sometimes dumpy, dirt road. The Self-Catering River Chalet would be perfect for a large family bringing their own food. Would comeback and try the tents next time!

Safari Satifaction

So many Safari Lodges, which one to choose? Well, we really believe Witwater was a great choice because it satisfied every single aspect and delivered more than our expectations. First of all, its location is really out in the bush (even though it's quite close to Johannesburg) On the way in we saw baboons, warthog, wildebeest, zebra even before we got to the very impressive, classy lodge, where our luxury safari tent was the epitome of "Glamping". Within the first 5 minutes we watched from our balcony as a crocodile leapt out of the water to catch his dinner..Our dinners were quite a bit more refined- the food was really excellent and the entire staff fantastic. After a day spent having massages and lolling about in the plunge pool, the highlight was the Safari. An absolutely awesome, unforgettable experience.

Good lodge

Everything is perfect. good accommodation and hospitality. But location is in long way with dart road...

Great Safari Lodge

Witwater Safari lodge was an extremely pleasant surprise. We had just arrived in JNB and needed a place to stay for one night before we headed North to Kruger. The staff was phenomenal! Everyone was so warm and welcoming. We took an evening game drive and had a wonderful time with our driver. We stayed in the self catering chalet which was so charming and was located right on a river. There were baboon caves right across from us. Although we were in self catering, we could eat in the main restaurant. The food was great and service impeccable. We would highly recommend this lodge. It is about an hour off the main N1 road but well worth the trip.
