  • Young Red Colobus Monkey. Day trips to Jozani are very straight forward. In Stone Town, tours can be booked at the old fort. November is storm season, but it is also Spring here, so there are lots of young creatures around. You have to take a local guide from the Forest information centre and you get walked through the forest. This is not a bad thing, as there are a load of side paths and no signage, so I think getting lost would be pretty straight forward. The other good thing about a network of guides on the ground, is that they find the monkeys easily, meaning you get to spend more time with them, rather than looking for them.

Great place. Quiet and well kept. We really enjoyed our week there. Stayed both at the Over Water Villas and at the resort - both of which are recommended. The Over Water Villas are of course extra, but a great experience throughout.

This hotel was BEAUTIFUL! The pictures do not do it any justice. We stayed at the overwater villas for one night and the service was exceptional. The food was good. They brought a floating breakfast that was delicious. Even the regular villas were really nice. Also “the rock”restaurant was 15 mins away.

Kono Kono is an Independent Resort, so you really feel the sense and warmth of the staff who go over and beyond to make your holiday the best it can be. Absolutely loved Zanzibar and will hope to visit Kono, Konko again.

Jambo… It was following a safari trip and we stayed a week to unwind and relax!!! The place, specifically the beach, was like paradise… Catered to couples and newlyweds… But even though I was there with a friend, I would definitely go back for some R&R!!! However, the service was slow, the waiters didn’t speak that well English, we didn’t have hot water the last 3 nights of our trip… And even though they sent maintenance every day, the problem never got resolved… And the bathroom leaked as well but luckily we had 2 in our apartment and we were able to use the other one!!! The food was delicious and the drinks too!!! Even though we encountered these issues, we’d go back in a heartbeat!!! Asante sana…

Absolutely amazing stay at Isaraya! Not enough words to describe the resort. The over water villa was magical, it was very spacious and had its own pool! The beach was immaculate with white sand and crystal clear water. There were sun loungers for us to use and a beach bar near the pool that delivered food and drinks. Both the restaurants had amazing food and the dinner buffet at Konokono restaurant was delicious. They also had local entertainment which was great. The staff were so friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. Room service was very efficient as well. Overall we will never forget our stay here and hope to come back some day!

Quiet, calm and relaxing place in paradise. Amazing rooms/houses. The view from the pool over the beach is amazing. Really loved this place and the people who worked there. Would higky recomend this place to everyone.

Perfect stay in Zanzibar. If you want a quiet, cosy and well-maintained place in the island, Konkokoro is an ideal place to stay. We felt like having a private beach :). The food was delicious. The staff was so nice. Facility is clean. Highly recommended !

Perfect honeymoon resort

It was an amazing experience for our honeymoon. We booked the over the water villa. The room was perfect with a great view and balcony. Great staff and service, delicious food. Just the perfect place for couples.

We absolutely loved our stay at Isayara luxury over water villa and konokono beach resort garden villa. The staff is very kind and available whenever you need them. We felt very welcomed and care for. The place is juste amazing and calm. We stayed in a garden villa for 3 nights and in an overwater villa for another 3 nights due to availability of the overwater villa when we booked. We loved both villas. The garden villa was so spacious and clean. The pool in the garden was very nice. We really enjoyed the daily visit of the monkey’s there. But of course the highlight of our stay was the overwater villa. WOW. The view everywhere in the villa. We spent most our day in our own little pool or the ocean on high tides. It was just a perfect relaxing moment. Room service was so efficient, we just had to call in to get some drink delivered. We really loved our stay at this property. It’s a fair drive from main attractions, but we didn't mind it as we booked our tours with hotel pickups. The hotel is worth the drive.

I throughly enjoyed my stay at the Kokono resort. The service was exceptional by staff. The resort if very quaint, peaceful yet full of its own little luxuries such as the beach, the view and the exceptional staff. The food was diverse each night and delicious. This was a birthday trip for me in which the staff made me feel celebrated by decorating my room and making me a cake! It was so sweet and pleasantly delightful. Just note that they are located in the village which means the roads are not greatly intact which makes traveling into and out of the village very bumpy and there is no gym which forces true relaxation but they do provide some aquatic activities. I recommend this as 9/10 and plan on returning on my next trip to Zanzibar!

The resort is just a paradise on earth! Absolutely loved our stay. The staff were ever very helpful and friendly. Shout out to Glory & reception team for always arranging our moving, Mary, Jackson in the restaurant for always being helpful. Aman helpful with excursions. Stayed in the beach pavilion, the 2 bed sea view villa and the over water villa to get the experience. Each and every one of them was amazing although my favourite is the over water villa! They were cleaned on a daily basis and it’s the first hotel I have had no issues with dust! Thank you guys. The only issue was the Masai men hiding to sell their stuff. It was a bit annoying. See you again soon.

This is the place for a wonderful, restful and lovely honeymoon!! My husband and I stayed in one of the Isaraya Villas, and these are a must. We loved the intimate privacy within the villa: own pool, access to the ocean, sunset views, short walk to the clean beach and restaurant (delicious, fresh meals made to order). We also enjoyed the facilities on the main resort as well. The staff are welcoming and helpful, they added to the serene atmosphere. We would visit again!

The Isaraya overwater bungalows are beautifully decorated and you feel like you're living in your own personal paradise looking out onto the ocean, your private pool, and the fishermen who pass by. The food was amazing with lots of different choices of local dishes including fresh fish and fruits daily. The best part of all was the staff. They were so helpful, especially when you try to speak a few words in swahili, and will do all they can to serve you, even dinner on the beach, on request. Beatrice, the hospitality manager, was absolutely incredible and the kindness of the whole team will make your trip exceptional. It is very quiet there, day and night, which is what I was seeking, but no night life except a couple of evenings where there was music, so if you're wanting fun, I'd go elsewhere or you'll need to book a taxi every day. It is about 90 minutes from Stone Town or the spice farm, so most visits will be a full day trip due to the roads. Some people complain about the Maasai, but they guard the property. They made me feel safe, and they are lovely to chat to. Of course they'll try to sell you something, but just be polite, laugh with them, and negotiate, you'll be so glad you did because it'll add to your memories. I personally had an unforgettable stay and I can't wait to go back.

The villas are beautiful spacious with high ceiling. Beautiful white sand private beach. Tranquil & luxurious. The only negative is the condition of the road leading to the resort. It is in need of repair.

We loved our stay on this property! Our room was clean, the meals were great, and the staff was very friendly. We had no issues with the electricity or air conditioning. There were times when that water pressure would drop, but that didn’t affect our stay as we weren’t in the room often as we soaked up every minute of the beach and pool that we could! The staff arranged our transfers to and from the airport, as well as to The Rock Restaurant one day. All of our taxis were professional, kind and on time. We enjoyed chatting with the staff and felt very cared for and safe. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful hotel aesthetic and rooms very spacious and clean. We stayed in the garden view villa and it was lovely. However food is not good, service is slow it takes forever to get your food and lots of items from menu are always unavailable. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere which is good for privacy and relaxing but do keep that in mind. Hotel taxi is pricey. Lots of animals eg monkeys hang around in the gardens.
