The room was pretty clean, microwave and fridge were kind of not clean. Was overall a good experience for value. Friendly staff. Pet friendly hotel, we stayed with our pet. Quiet guests.

Not bad for short stay and price

Customer service was great. Front desk person greeted me and got me checked in ASAP. Only downside of the stay was the following, Outlet in bathroom did not work so I couldn’t plug in my curling iron to do my hair. I had to take it to the nearest area with a working outlet and use my reflection on the microwave as a mirror

Disappointing experience in Marshalltown

I frequently choose Motel 6 when traveling with my pet: they are generally a good value for just a quick overnight stay. The Motel 6 in Marshalltown was the first Motel 6 I’ve patronized to require a cash fee for my pet beyond a deposit. No one was at the front desk when I arrived or dropped by to check out—just a number to call. After a wait of not a few minutes, a young lady arrived to check us in. She was nice and tried to be helpful, but someone had to walk her through the check-in process over the phone. If I’m going to pay extra for my pet, I will choose another hotel that provides amenities and front desk service next time I visit Marshalltown. The room itself was fine, though the beds were less comfortable than most.

All hotels in town were booked, this one was the ONLY hotel available. Staff was nice, friendly, and check in was smooth. There were multiple ruffians about, so we brought everything of value inside. Opened the door to the room and my 6 year old remarks, "it smells." It did. Stains on the bed spread, AC was LOUD, only 1 full size towel, the rest of used literal hand towels. It was only $80 a night. Im sure it was a nice facility at some point, and underwent some updates a few years ago. But hasnt been well maintained since. Had it for two nights, but checked out early and stayed with my aunt since she had room. Expedia tried to get me a refund, but couldnt get a hold of the property manager so I couldnt get my money back.

Room wasnt bad for a weekend stay. Only 2 pillows and the ice machine wasnt sticked. No shampoo in the room and the wifi was spotty and the tv froze sometimes. And it took a while for the front desk to get there to check us in, and noone was there to check out close to check out time. Housekeeping was nice and front desk was nice too.

Good for a stop on the way

The room is very clean and comfortable. I liked having two chairs at the table. The price was what attracted my attention. The AC was not as cold as i wanted. The shower worked good with hot water for me, but then in the morning it didn't work. The hotel is walking distance to Perkins restaurant.

The bathroom floor was filthy, the bath tub had "hair" in it and the stool would not hardly flush. The bedroom floor was also dirty and when we walked in, I immediately killed a bug on the floor. I looked at reviews on Expedia and they were pretty good, but I would recommend staying somewhere else.

the room had paint peeling off the ceiling, shower dripped all night, no tissue in the room, no shampoo, but they gave me conditioner. There toilets barely function, towels are cheap and thin. The only two things that were ok was the water was hot (ish) and the bed was ok - but the pillows were the smallest pillows I have ever seen.
