Arrived and discovered that we were not booked at the B&B but in town. The breakfast would be cold cereal and a pastry. When I objected moved us to B&B. Room had a king size bed which took up pretty much the whole room which was quite shabby. The public room was small. For breakfast choice of eggs or French toast. The eggs, small, served with one slice of bread. Nice homemade cake also served. Very comfortable wrap around porch. All in all I would rate this B&B inferior.

A lifesaver!
We had a huge emergency surrounding closing on our home, and the team here turned a very difficult, stressful situation into a seamless experience, where we could rest after a couple of particularly stressful days. They are the loveliest people, we were in the village sweets, and look forward to staying in the end at some point. Highly recommend!

Very old, cold and dark. Rooms looked much better and more spacious in photos than in person. Not much privacy as the bathroom was separate from our room across the hall. We could hear the guests upstairs walking and flushing the toilet, coughing, which made it very hard to sleep. Not what we expected but it was our first time at a B&B.

Very nice older original house
Nice house, but looked newer in the pictures, was a clean house that felt like I was back in time, In good but OLD original condition, shower was good, plenty hot water, breakfast in dining room was cool, very nice service with home baked pastry in morning. very quiet and can sit on porch, and even have a cigarette or cigar if you wanted to.

The locks on my door didn't work, and I had to be let into my room on three separate occasions. I also was locked in my room one evening when I woke to go across the hall to my private bath. (I'm new to B&B's, and this may be common to have a bath outside one's room, but I would still prefer an in room bath, especially after this experience; I ended up turning the screws on the dead bolt lock with the tag on my key to the room and was able to loosen my self out at 3am). There is an old world charm to this beautiful old Victorian home, and the owner cooks a delicious personalized and plentiful breakfast for you to dine in with other guests. My room was clean and pretty, however the shared refrigerator wasn't clean, the freezer didn't open, there was no list of places to go to in town or near by, other than a rattled off oration upon asking, the seating was old and worn, and the barn where we had to park was filled with broken windows and debris; not particularly welcoming. There was no assistance offered with luggage, but a tip envelope on the dresser. The Inn is hosted by a hard working, kind family, and adorable little white cat, and I while I thank them for their kind demeanor; with a few tweaks my stay could have been a more pleasant experience.

Our breakfast was delicious, served on english bone china, presented beautifully, Bed was very comfortable. Host was very accomodating. Rooms were imaculate. I would most definatlly recomend this place.

This guest is a terrible communicator. Staff called and emailed the guest with a check in time for three days. He never replied. Check in is between 4-6 pm. Staff was waiting until 9:30 for him to check in and we finally left a note becasue staff had to get up at 6pm. Breakfast on the note said 7:30-9 am. They never took the note off the door to check what it had to say. Guest came down at 10 am looking for breakfast that closed at 9 am. he was told sorry, no communication again. Guest was completely disrespectful and rude. I would never recommend him to any lodging establishment.

Pleasant Stay
The people at Margaretville B&B were lovely! We had to check in after 9 pm and the person who called me back was caring and understanding and left clear instructions on what to do. Breakfast service was nice as well. The B&B is old and you can see that throughout. However, for the price, breakfast, and proximity to Belleayre Mountain we will be returning again. The street it is on is a steep incline so it may not be ideal in heavy snow.

Read Before Chosing your Room
It seems clear from the review of other guests that Village 1 does not meet expectations and it was no different for us. Unfortunately I had not read those reviews before booking. We paid for a place with a view which was in a mountain location and isolated location and we got a very old historic house right next to the city centre. The check-in was already confusing, the address on the reservation is a house and there someone received us saying that it is not there, and then they sent it to another address. The worst part was the cleanliness of the place, there was dog food scattered around the room, two bottle caps, 4 sweet popcorn on the bedroom floor that my daughter used and, believe me, a used underwear on the bedroom floor. I couldn't walk without shoes or socks because a lot of dirt from the floor stuck to my feet. Dirty cutlery and pans in the kitchen and the coffee pot with old and moldy coffee in it. The only thing that was good and really clean were the towels. I took pictures.

You are referring to the Village suites. These are self check in units. This is not the Inn and had you read your email you would have seen the address posted and check in instruction for the Suites.Apparently the unit below did a goldilocks and stayed in both units when they booked just the one. Housekeeping did not think of checking it since they cleaned it the day before. once we were informed the staff cleaned the unit. We apologized and the guests said everything was fine and that they understood. Apparently they didn't understand and conveyed their displeaser in Pi this review. The unit is not in the city center, Margaretville is a quaint victorian village located in the Catskill Mtns. City?!

We had a nice stay at Village Suites. Check in confusing bc diff property address was given (for neighboring B&B location) and no available staff at either property. Feared that our reservation was given away, but figured it out on our own. Comfortable 2 BR, clean but def an old house (broken windows, creaky floors). Footsteps from upstairs suite very pronounced & woke me middle of night. 15min drive to Belleayre Ski resort & one block from cute village. Breakfast was all non perishables & juice/milk. Fireplace was a welcome feature, though we couldn’t find a guest book to consult for operation, as suggested. Loved the 2min drive to grocery & cvs. Local restaurant choices within 5-10min drive were good, though packed by 6. Eat out early! Overall a comfortable, nice stay for a family of 5.

It was a lovely old home. Breakfasts were delicious! The scenery and star gazing were amazing. If you are looking for an old fashioned get away, this is the place. Comfy and sweet. Sadly one of the reasons we were excited about booking was the hot tub that was not working.

Charming
Beautiful home. Charming rooms. Description said deep soaking tub, but it was just a shower stall. Service and breakfast was wonderful. Parking is up a little hill near the barn, so a bit tricky if there is a lot of snow on the ground. Overall, great B&B.

We had a lovely stay at this B&B. It was so fun to show our boys what a real Victorian home looked like. We stayed over so that we could ski at Belleayre the next day. The house is located in a beautiful spot, and it was a great place to experience snowstorm. We will be back! Thank you Carol and family!

Old, outdated and overpriced. Toilet didn’t work my husband had to use sink water to fill up the toilet to flush it. You can hear every sound made in the house. Pipes are old so when the neighbor takes a shower it is loud and obnoxious. No clear check out procedure. Overpriced for the quality.

Wow, I'm shocked by your anonymous review, actually not becasue you never said anything to me or the staff about the toilet. The house is old becasue it dates back to 1886, nothing is outdated it is in harmony with the time period. You can not hear every sound otherwise I would have heard people showering too. Be careful how you review a family owned businesses especially during Covid when we have to be in front of the public. God bless.
