Checked in and was told where my room was located. On entering the room it was like I had walked into a freezer. The air conditioner/heater was broken. Returned to reception and asked for either a heater or another room. It was 4degrees outside and -4 in the room. The woman at the desk advised there are no other rooms available but will play heater roulette to find one. This she placed in my room saying when she picked it up it was very hot so should suffice. After changing the plug socket 3 times, I came to the conclusion that the heater obviously was not working as it remained cold. By this point I’m laying on the bed, with coat and duvet. Called reception and a lovely man called Andy said he will find me a room immediately with heat. Within 10 minutes he was knocking the door and I moved from room 133 to 122. The heat was a god send. Nice and toasty.
My score reflects the lies told by the 1st woman that booked me in. the fact they knew the heaters in the rooms were not working, the lack of maintenance, I was told it’s too expensive to repair the heating, cleanliness, (there’s mould in the bathroom) and poor attention to make their guests comfortable. The food was mediocre to say the least with very little choice.
Whilst it’s a budget hotel they can do so much better with the surroundings they are in and what appears to be not too old a building. They don’t even have sockets that accommodate chargers in this day and age (minor but important point).
