"This feels like a motel, with a mediocre pub attached, which was ok as I was just wanting a bed for the night. The room was spacious but wasn’t as clean as you’d expect, Doors were banging through the night didn’t help sleep! I ate at the pub. The food was poor value really, even though my expectations were not high. When the dish arrived half the advertised ingredients had been forgotten so had to ask the staff to try again."

"Nice and fresh room. Lovely staff. Extra milk/tea/coffee on corridor table and toothbrushes for those who require them. Dog bowls, treats and blankets if bringing your pooch. Food was lovely."

"Excellent location in the centre of the village with dedicated parking spaces for each room. Friendly staff serving a good choice of food and drink in the bar and a really good breakfast. Would definitely stay again."

"Staff was very friendly upon check in. The carpets on the way to the room were quite dirty and the bathroom floor hadn’t been mopped properly for a while - it was filthy. I spilt a little water onto the floor and as I wiped it with some tissue paper it was totally brown due to the dirt on the floor. It was 30 degrees celsius at least due to the heatwave, during my first night’s stay I noticed there was no fan. The following morning around 10am I asked the cleaner for a fan, she said they didn’t...

"Our room was very dated and run down, in desperate need of refurbishment. Shower leaked everywhere, plaster peeling and damp and mould all over. The £120 room only per night was far more than it’s worth. The bar is nice and the food is reasonably for a pub, it’s not a restaurant. Location is good and has parking which is rare for Howarth."
