Nice old well established hotel.I had a top floor room which looked out over the bay with a view of a Viking Wooden Rowing Boat.Room was very spacious and comfortable.

Very dated hotel, room not cleaned properly everyday and the breakfast we were told would be provided was not. Excellent position in the town and great view of Bains Beach. Overpriced for what we got.

This hotel smelt very bad and is in poor condition, the tap in the room wasn't fixed to the sink so rattled around, twisted when you turned on and off The window net had black mould spots. Towels come with free stains and are frayed after too many years in service. In all it may have been a great place 30 years ago but not so much now. Be aware there is no lift that we are aware of.

This hotel was very poor. Decor was appalling with aged dirty wallpaper coming off the walls. The TV did not work at all with stations not tuned in. We (3 adults one room) stayed there for 3 nights and at no point were we given fresh clean cups for our tea, freshened bedding/towels or bins changed. No WiFi given. No bar or restaurant facilities. Carpets worn and windows dirty. It was very disappointing and a shame. Definitely not value for money!

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and my room had a stunning sea view which was a joy every morning! The bar and restaurant were closed during my stay and signs helpfully signposted to local cafes, bars and restaurants close by which were good recommendations. The hotel is older and some work was getting done. The rooms are dated though the bed was incredibly comfy and all the amenities worked. Sockets near the bed and a newer heating system/electric radiators would improve the overall comfort. Staff were flexible with my departure times letting me leave my luggage until I was leaving Lerwick rather than having to carry it around all day which was incredibly helpful

Jayden, Megan and Shawn were friendly and helpful and kind. The hotel is very very old but beautiful and the beds clean and comfortable. The hotel is right in the water so you fall asleep to water lapping at the walls. The hotel is also super convenient as it is right next to the main shopping street. Highly recommend

The hotel was clean, warm but dated. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The fact that there was no restaurant meant no meal or breakfast but the staff advised me of lovely alternatives. I believe the hotel has just changed hands so probably just getting things organised and i hope it works for them.

古い建物なので、部屋や廊下の狭さはまるで船室のようで、ただ、それも面白かったです。トイレの水がなかなかでないのが難点でしたが、タンクに水を追加すれば問題ないことがわかりましたし、浴室の水やお湯は問題なく出ました。設備は古いけど、それを補う面白さと心配りがあり、とくに、バスマットが各自用にあり、さすが老舗の心配りだと思いました。とても気にいりました。

Bra läge - slitet hotell

Hotellet var väldigt slitet och rummen är små. Bekväma sängar men duschen hade knappt något tryck. Ingen personal i receptionen när vi skulle checka in så det tog lång tid innan vi lyckades få hjälp med det. Ingen info om parkering. Ingen att fråga. Städningen var bra. Restaurangen var stängd. Läget är dock fantastiskt och personalen ( när vi väl fick tag på någon) vänlig.

We needed to wait for a staff member to register us. We were given 2 adjoining rooms when we requested a triple accommodation. The hotel is right on the coast. No lift, restaurant, or bar were available.

Charmigt hotell med perfekt läge! Gammalt och under reparation! Vi hade 63 trappsteg upp till ett väldigt charmigt rum med havsutsikt! Ingen hiss! Daglig städning i princip obefintlig!

Ignore the negative reviews!

We loved our brief stay at the Queen’s. My husband had been taken ill on arrival in Lerwick and we had to change our plans to let him rest up. We booked last minute and were surprised to be able to still choose a twin room with sea view. The sea literally lapped outside our window and the view was stunning. The hotel has a fascinating history and is built actually into the sea so those who complained of damp should have gone some where else. The shower was great with loads of instant hot water and the bathroom and linen were beautifully clean. The staff were really helpful. The night porter rummaged around and found me a bottle opener and there was cutlery in the room for our delicious fish and chips from the Fort café, given that the hotel’s restaurant is being refurbished. We would definitely recommend the Queen’s and wish the new owners success in their quest to restore it to its former glory.

Such a shame that a hotel in great Location is getting bad reviews however although outside renovation being don inside very dates. Has so much potential. Room had rusted towel rail and toilet roll holder no shower wash in shower. Also no bar area or lounge or dining facilities yet still being advertised on Expedia as a hotel. I wouldn't even rate it as b and b as no food available . I do hope the owners manage to get upgrade done as going back 12 years our stay was excellent

It's an old hotel that could be very nice and probably was at one time. Carpeting and wallpaper very worn. Bathroom was large and clean which was nice but faucet handles fell off when used, toilet paper roll kept falling off, etc. TV didn't work and we were told someone would come check it out which never happened. Restaurant was closed so had to walk into the town every morning for breakfast and coffee. Supposedly new owners who plan on fixing it up - would be interested if that happens.

Avoid

Doors constantly slamming because the door closers and lock keeps are poorly fitted. Breakfast waiter is totally clueless; no orange juice, coffee, sugar, milk, cup, saucer, tea spoon......... The female receptionist is officious and totally unpleasant! The two best members of staff are the two young ladies from mainland Europe, well done.

Don't bother

I booked two rooms for two nights at the Queen’s Hotel in Shetland, paying a premium rate and expecting a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, my experience fell short in several key areas. On arrival, there were no staff on duty, and we waited around 20 minutes before being checked in. The overnight desk staff were also unhelpful when i needed help. The most serious issue was that all my belongings — including clothes, toiletries, and medication — were removed from my room without explanation. When I reported this, the night porter could not locate them and called someone who promised to ring back, but never did. As I had an early flight the next morning, I was forced to travel for 14 hours without being able to wash properly. It took two weeks before some of my belongings were returned, and there was no proactive follow-up from the hotel. The building itself is in poor condition, with peeling wallpaper, cracks in the walls, and signs of general disrepair. During my stay, the restaurant was closed for major renovations — something I was not informed about when booking. Overall, the lack of communication, the handling of my personal belongings, and the condition of the hotel did not reflect the premium price paid. I hope management addresses these issues for future guests.

Location is wonderful, a few easy steps to Commercial Street, harbor, etc. The property is old and very much in need of refurbishment. There is evidence that the management is working to that end. Restaurant was closed, which is challenging if staying on the weekend because there are literally only a handful of places to eat on a Sunday and reservations are hard to come by. I stayed 2 nights and there was no housekeeping available unless requested. The front desk is not manned 24/7 but mobile numbers are left at the desk so that someone can be reached if needed. My hope is that management will be able to refurbish the hotel and make a go of it, because it is unique and in spite of the downsides, I enjoyed staying in a room that overlooked the water.

My first room was a bit of a disappointment, but when I was moved to a ground floor room for my last two nights, it was a real “wow!” moment when I saw the view. The restaurant was closed, so no breakfast was on offer. It would have been useful to know this up front. The staff were very kind and helpful.

It is an old property and has been maintained somewhat unfortunately both the Bar and the Restaurant were closed we also had a hard time checking in as there was no one on the property just a note with phone numbers to call. I did eventually get a hold of someone and they appeared about ten minutes later. The little beach besides the hotel is quite popular with the locals who play with there kids, walk there dogs and go swimming there, note also that it is only accessible when the tide is out as the stairs leading to it are underwater when the tide is in. Note also there is no parking at the hotel and only six public spaces for Parking close by.
