We stayed in the Litla Brekka, cute little cottage. Was beautifully decorated with amazing views. Had everything we needed. The hosts were very hospitable. The Breakfast provided was amazing! Thanks to Hildur and Siggi for a lovely stay.
Breakfast was very good. The cabin needs a better cleaning. Friendly people. We were there on a very foggy and rainy night so we couldn’t see much of the area.
Amazing stay, incredibly friendly owner/family. Peaceful location, great room, would highly recommend.
Plus, have to mention the freshly baked bread, fabulous. Thank you!
It is hard to describe how special Grasteinn Guesthouse is. Heldur and Siggi own and manage the business and also the working farm where the property is located. We received a personal greeting upon arrival and joined them at dinner with some other guests. We stayed in one of the two cabins on the property which could not have been nicer. Breakfast was terrific as well. The perfect summary of how we felt about our stay was that we felt the need to hug Heldur when we left! Suffice to say that you will NOT be disappointed when you stay there!
Cozy little farm in the middle of nowhere. Narrow street with hills leading towards the Guesthouse, keep in mind if you travel during winter months!
We were welcomed by the owner, very polite and friendly man. However what is advertised as fully stuffed little apartments / guesthouses somehow dissapointed us. We were forced to clean dishes / pots etc. before using them, in total the whole placed looked like it hasn`t been properly cleand in ages. We do understand that at a farm there is a certain level of smell und dirt, however a basic level of hygiene should be managable.
The bed and sheets where comfy and clean though. All together would not recommend to stay there.
We only had time to stay one night at Grasteinn, but it was truly wonderful! The cottage that we stayed in was very well-designed, very clean, and the owners had thought of everything that we might need. It was really perfect. Our 8-year old was so excited to meet the dogs, and he especially loved visiting the sheep house and meeting Athena and the rest of the flock. Breakfast the next morning was in the main house and was exactly what we'd hoped it would be--delicious, filling, and friendly. We couldn't have enjoyed it more--we hope to be back as soon as possible!
The owners were amazing. I had a small accident with a nail going through my hand (my own fault), and Hildur went out of her way to treat my wound, apply antibacterial cream, etc. - something way out of the normal job description of a property owner. Also, beautiful place, very comfortable, and fantastic breakfast. Highly recommend.
The room was beautiful and spacious. The owners were very courteous and warm, and breakfast included freshly baked homemade bread. It felt like we were part of their family and we wished we could have stayed longer.
This was an amazing experience. The family that owns/runs the guesthouse is very friendly and so knowledgeable in everything local. From sheep farming, local wildlife, geology of Iceland. You name it...and they happily share their knowledge. We had wonderful conversations with both. They are also very welcoming and allow usage of the kitchen, laundry (small charge) and are happy to help with anything you need. Such a different experience from staying at a hotel and definitely worth it.
Beautiful cottage in an incredible location. Hosts were great and the breakfast in the morning was an ideal start to the day. Unbeatable location far away from the crowds.
Nice place out in the country on a farm. Breakfast was great with many home made items. Room was a basement room with limited view of the country. It was a bit expensive but worth it.
Would we go again? Definitely.
