Dinner at the restaurant was good, but I would skip the breakfast option- you can find better for much less. The blinds in the room were excellent and blocked all outside light. Not the most cleanly stay, but worth it for the views!
Disappointing Stay — Not Worth the Price
We recently stayed at the Cambria Hotel in Lake Placid for two nights, paying over $800. While the hotel was exceptionally clean, the overall experience was disappointing.
The room felt cramped, and the bed was not particularly comfortable. Even coffee in the lobby cost nearly $3 a cup. The indoor pool was so cold that my grandson would not stay in it for more than a few moments.
When our toilet became clogged, we contacted the front desk and were assured someone would come right up. No one ever arrived.
The restaurant staff also left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable which added to our disappointment.
We’ve stayed at much nicer, more comfortable hotels for significantly less money. While we appreciated the cleanliness, some of the amenities and the beautiful outside atmosphere, the overall experience simply did not justify the price. Unfortunately, we would not stay here again.
The location was perfect and staff were friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful mountain view room without a balcony. I hadn’t requested housekeeping, so they texted and asked if we needed anything. Coffee pods were delivered to our door. We didn’t have breakfast however we did have a draft beer at happy hour and dinner one night, the food was reasonably priced and good. It’s a nice, quiet property, I would recommend.
Hotel is very accessible and it says that it is on the water, but there is no view of the water and access to it is not very obvious. The rooms were clean and modern. However, the rooms were small and the walls thin. We learned quite a bit about the family in the room next door without ever meeting them. There was no body soap in the shower. Plenty of shampoo, but no body soap. The rooms were rather expensive and yet the price did not include the breakfast buffet. As to the buffet, the eggs were overcooked and dry, the bacon was so overcooked that you couldn't separate the charred pieces. The French toast appeared to have been prepared the previous week. Basically, a terrible breakfast at a high price.
We have only one comment concerning the Cambria Hotel. The shower in the room is beautiful, but the floor of the shower is very slippery and there is no safety grips on the shower floor or grab bars in case you start to slip. One day someone will have a serious fall in the shower. The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant is great.
Hotel I believe is new, so what could be wrong? I have no complaints. It was clean and comfy. If I had to look for issues, I would say use trash can liners. Our bathroom trash can had bio debri plastered to the bottom. I expected Cambria to be more soundproof from neighboring rooms but it wasn’t bad, tolerable. Dish TV was in and out due to wind. Hotel would be my choice next visit to Lake Placid
Our room was very nice, clean, and had a wonderful view. There was one woman who ran the front desk who was extremely helpful and I feel bad I forgot her name. She went out of her way to find us places to see and eat.
It was a great property with the only main downside of not having ramps for rolling in luggage at other doors other than the front. So….if you park close to your room entrance, you can’t roll the cart in.
The cleaning crew was very attentive throughout the hotel.
Stayed here one night on our way from Cooperstown! Hotel was beautiful and spacious! Beds had lights under them for night lights! Walk in shower! Water did not drain well! Beds slept wonderfully! Beautiful mural behind bed! Staff recommended Pickled Pig to eat and was spot on good!
I greatly enjoyed my stay at the Cambria Lake Placid. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious (especially the bathroom and shower). Also, the room was outfitted nicely with a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and fridge. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had breakfast at the Haystack restaurant located on the property twice and each time found the service to be attentive and the food very good. The location of the hotel is great too, a bit removed from the busy main strip in Lake Placid. Highly recommend and will definitely stay at the Cambria for my next trip to the Adirondacks.
Loved the access to firepits although we didn't use them. Not super close to town but walkable. Only complaint was the air conditioner was REALLY loud and woke us up every time it kicked on. Comfortable one night stay.
The room was very nice with a beautiful view from the balcony. We had an accessible room when entering the room it would be nice to have something to hold the door while bringing in someone with a wheelchair.
The handles in the bathroom were good, but the bathtub is too low for someone with disabilities to get on the built in seat and swing legs over the tub. A walk in shower would be better.
Overall we loved our stay. The restaurant was excellent and the staff very nice and helpful.
