"Close to town, easy walk. Lovely view of mountains."

"Very nice for what we wanted to do. Mount warning closed but the camping experience for grand child was what we wanted."

"Cabin was clean and had everything you would need plus extras. Kitchen well equipped, lounge and bed very comfortable. Nice to sit outside on the veranda. Only downside was the bathroom is very small and hard to use the sink to clean teeth plus one side of the bed is against a wall. But overall a great place to stay for a few days."

"Stayed 3 nights in Oct. Room was small, no sitting chairs, nice bath with a walk in shower. Kettle only with instant coffee, tea provided. Small fridge and hot plate all in nice condition. Review comments are real - one end of the building has bar/smoker noise, the other has the kitchen exhaust, the front has street noise. Balcony rooms are near the kitchen exhaust, which runs from 9a to nearly 9p. Balcony looks out on the wall behind building & parking lot. Close to options of beach, walking,...

"The staff was very friendly and helpful so many things to do around the area."

"The lovely cleaner Christine let us in one room early as we had to attend a wedding. She was very polite and helpful. We would stay there again."

"Hillcrest Mountain View Retreat is a hidden sanctuary. We hit the jackpot when we were searching for accommodation in the area to attend a wedding. Its location is nothing short of spectacular and the 360 views are breathtaking. Hosts Craig and Paul were so warm and welcoming, and a wealth of knowledge about the local area. Our room had such a comfortable bed with everything we needed and many more extras. The deck was made for unwinding with a daybed and hammock inviting you to linger and...

"Wanted to be in nature and this was a perfect spot for it."

"Location was AMAZING! Couldn’t ask for a better view or environment to be in. Lodge was clean and perfect for our stay. Only suggestion was the cafe/dining being open longer."

"Friendly staff at the hotel and the pub downstairs , clean rooms , it’s an old Pub , but bed was fine ."

"Amazing spot, easy to walk into main street and beach. Great, helpful staff. Cabin with river view was great!"

"The room was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. We also enjoyed the thai around the corner and coffee shop which was open from 5am. Overall, a very convenient and pleasant stay. Just avoid having a room 1 to 3 and its close to the street and right above the restaurant which didnt quiet down til 10:30"

"An excellent example of a small motel. Family run. Perfectly maintained. Friendly service."

"Lovely property immersed in nature. They've made some additions like a wood burning fireplace. I did know that the toilet was in an outbuilding separate from the cabin about 10 steps away. In my head, I thought that the shower and the bathtub were inside the cabin, but they are also in the outbuilding. Not in the same room, but separated by a wall with separate entrances for both. The record player may have been removed to accommodate the fireplace. Fridge is a mini-fridge so it doesn't hold a...

"Katy the owner was so friendly as well her dog Butler. Beautiful river which is easy access from the cabins. Our stay was short due to other committments during the day but by night it was so peaceful. We bonded because of no wi-fi which was great not having kids or us on technology. Different experience for us from our normal hotel/motel stay but we loved it. "

"Such a restful place to stay. Could watch the changing tides and birdlife all day long. Apart from needing a car to do shopping and go on outings (which we managed to organise thanks to family), there was nothing else we needed."
