Therefore, unless an item is handed for safekeeping, the hotel is not responsible for any loss. In your situation, as we suggested, you had reported the loss to the local police who investigated it and found no evidence of theft. If you have your own travel insurance, we would advise that you use the police report to file the claim. Whilst remaining sympathetic to your situation, we trust that you will understand that under the circumstances, we cannot accept any responsibility for the loss you have incurred.
