A perfect base for a seven day exploration of the Yorkshire Dales. Brilliant to arrive back each day knowing we had off street private parking and secure WiFi for business needs and walking distance to a selection of eatery’s for dinner. Of course each day commenced with an a la carte breakfast menu, set in a dining room with beautiful white linen tablecloths and a most gracious hostess. All staff went above and beyond to cater for our requirements. Thank you.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and spacious and the location was excellent for access to local shops and riverside. Would highly recommend and would stay again if visiting the area.

I really enjoyed my stay here. A lovely old building with a nice feel. Staff were friendly and really good breakfast. Really close to town and bus to Harrogate. A few bars and restaurants nearby. Nice one

The very old property, about 300 years old, is on a main road, so I knew that there would be road noise when I booked. However, it was really beautiful inside and the bed was comfortable and the room clean. It is also in the town centre and an easy walk to the railway station that has a good and regular service to York in one direction and Leeds in the other. As a result, I left my car in the car park and walked and took the train to places that I wished to visit. In the room, the TV was good, though some Freeview channels were missing and some had poor reception. I think it just needs to be retuned, though it may need a new aerial.

Ideal location to visit Knaresborough
The hotel was looking a bit tired but then it is an old building. My room was clean and airy and had everything I could have needed in it (even a fan which was much appreciated). Location to the market square, within walking distance. Parking, once found, was close to the hotel. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Staff were absolutely brilliant and went above and beyond! Breakfast was good with a range of options - again staff willing to go the extra mile to meet guests needs. Due to the room we stayed in facing the front we did have traffic noises keeping us up at points in the nights even with the window closed - I presume this is down to the age of the property.

Noisy
Neighbouring room was separated by a door rather than a wall and it felt like the occupants were in the same room as us. Very loud and inconsiderate neighbours. And kid running about upstairs so lots of thuds from above. Not the restful stay we were hoping for.

The Newton House is a lovely little property for visitors to Knaresborough. It's a period Georgia house with additional rooms from the converted carriages houses at the back. We actually stayed in these rooms are lovely and bigger than the rooms in the main building. One of the highlights is the available sitting room and the included breakfasts. The breakfast experience is reminscient of the traditional dining experience fitting for this historic part of Yorkshire.

No need to look anywhere else!
It was everything I needed and more. I stayed in the small double room which has its own large separate and private shower room. Having a robe and slippers available in the room made a big difference for this arrangement so don’t let it not being en-suite put you off. Delicious breakfast. Lovely people. Windows open (important to me) and it’s noisy because it’s on a fairly busy road but they even provide ear plugs and a sleep eye mask in the room so it’s all fine. I would stay again at any opportunity.

Newton House by far exceeded our expectations! The hosts were incredibly gracious, helpful and very considerate!! The room was beatiful and spacious. There was excellent internet (perfect as I was on business there) The food was amazingly delicious! They made our stay so wonderfully stressless! We can't thank them enough!

Very friendly, lovely large bedroom with comfortable bed. The breakfast was disappointing as the bacon and sausages were overcooked, obviously done at the same time as a large group of motor cyclists.

Bit run down, asked for breakfast at 7.45 didn't get until after 8. No car park spaces despite being advertised. Not really a hotel, more like a B&B. Clean room, nice bed.

I'm sorry you didn't like the 'shabby chic' style of your room. We allow guests a few minutes to enjoy starters from our breakfast bar. We are very lucky to be able to offer some free parking the middle of town, and have a long stay car park just 3 mins walk away (1.60 for 24 hours). And, you are absolutely correct, Newton House is not a hotel, it is a B&B - we do not advertise ourselves as a hotel and have an accreditation from the AA of 4 Gold Stars for Guest Accommodation.

Tired. Much Like Me After a Night Here
On the upside the breakfast was nice and the serving staff were very friendly. That’s it for the positives I’m afraid. My room was like spare room where someone (perhaps your nan) would keep all her mismatched furniture and niknaks. It was fairly clean but VERY very tired and old fashioned. There was no hot water so I was moved to another room which was better. Less dodgy furniture but a lot more niknaks. The shower pressure wasn’t great either. Sadly, as this room was on the front of the building, over looking a busy road, I didn’t get much sleep. The hotel is near the town centre so that’s another plus but that means parking isn’t great. The hotel had maybe five or six spaces but the actual car park was tiny. This meant that manoeuvring was a nightmare and you’d probably have to reverse, blindly, onto the main road. Not ideal
