It’s like they started out building a really nice hotel changed owners then cheaped out and put in 70’s fixtures, not clean, not the best area. next to a Waffle House, all night Taco Bell, not safe area. The bedding I didn’t think was clean and I have nightmares if you took a black light to that place. do NOT bring your family there.

The lobby, bar, and pool area are very nice. But once you get into the hallways you can tell they need to repair or update somethings. On our last night they were working on 3 rooms right by our room that had water leaking from the ceilings from the looks of it. It was an okay stay nothing extravagant.

The pictures showed a newly remodeled hotel. The room that we stayed in was an older room; not like the picture. The pool was supposed to be open from 9 am - 9 pm; that was not the case. The pool was open from 4 pm - 9 pm. Nice breakfast and the room was well air conditioned.

The rooms desperately need updated. Our AC in our room didn’t work. The pool was freezing cold. There was M&M’s on the floor under the chair in our room. When we asked for more towels they gave us the pool towels. Pool table and dart game were nice to have onsite. The staff was nice. The breakfast was alright.

The lobby was apsultly beautiful, get past that and you are at a motel 8 for over $100 a night. Customer service was okay, go to check in and the person at the counter had an ear bud in and was on a phone call could not tell if they were talking to me or the person on the phone. The room did not smell, or look clean. The "family" area looked like an area for the employees and their children. Pictures on here are not what you are really getting. Pool, bar/restaurant are all in the the lobby, not separate areas.

It was clean, comfy beds, but the hotel is old/dated and didn't always appear really clean. The whole lobby area was cold, no heat. And the heated pool wasn't very warm. Also the rooms hot water wasn't hot. Staff was helpful and the onsite restaurant was really good and good prices. They had pool tables which we enjoyed. Location was good for what we needed.

To begin with, the staff was very friendly at all times; however, the hotel's facilities are not well-maintained—there are many repairs with shoddy workmanship—and specifically in my room, I had to call maintenance twice due to issues in the bathroom, such as a lack of hot water and a clogged toilet and sink!

The pool was pretty nice. The Personnel is the problem. Do not have a clean culture, nor a service culture, no towels in the pool area, the Hotel was dirty in the open areas, hallways. Our room had a pretty bad mattress and no response to change it. We stayed 3 nights and no resolution. The Hotel Asset is pretty good, but the staff in front desk... always in their phones,and hanging around...

Jessica at front desk was amazing. If only all clerks were as amazing as her. Besides being very beautiful, she was professional, courteous, and cares about the guests. The housekeeping staff were polite and courteous as well. The rooms were clean, however, they need some tlc done to them by somebody that is proud of what they do. Not someone that does work like a slumlord would. Other than that it was great.

Well... if you're a fan of heat.. this is a hard pass. The thermostat in both rooms (our first room and the one they moved us to) did not work. I actually got a space heater from Home Depot to make it better during the couple of cold nights. Layout was actually pretty nifty. I'm sure it is hopping in the summer. Right next door to Worlds of Fun. Staff was pleasant and seemed to have a general interest in your stay imbetterment, but lacked the drive. This really could be a swell place. We dug the layout, we enjoyed the overall cleanliness... but you could tell management was masking a lot of old problems.

The lobby was amazing. The pool was extremely cold and dirty. The hallway smelt like smoke and mildew clothes are spoiled milk. The hotel room was very dirty hair on the toilet and all in the tub. Sticky residue on the tables and counters. The breakfast food that was supposed to be cooked fresh was cold. Had to pay an additional $100 deposit and from the looks of things from the other reviews I won't be seeing my money. Everything was horrible

Room had bugs, there were buggers on the walls, bathroom was disgusting and toilet seat not attached. We were in the room less than two minutes. There was an intense odor on immediate entrance to the hotel. The staff were infact friendly and offered another room which we declined.

We had to change rooms 3 times. No hot water in first room. Next room hadn't been cleaned. Third room the heater made a terrible clunking noise and didn't blow any air. 4th room we stayed but the thermostat didn't work properly so the fan had to blow all night. The entry way smelled if weed. The lobby, pool area, and breakfast area were not heated so my kids couldn't use the pool as it was freezing. We had to wear our coats to breakfast which was just down the hall. Staff was kind as we requested a refund for the 2nd night as we were not staying another night.

Dirty Room

Check in was easy, staff was friendly and the price was decent. It was an older hotel but looked clean from the lobby to my room. My room wasn't very clean at all. There was dog food on the floor in front of the door that opened to the mini fridge. I found a half opened package of honey mustard at the head of the bed between the bed and wall and the mirrors looked like they were wiped down with oil. The bedding looked dirty (stained). The bath tub had a dirt ring around it also. I would stay there again, however, the next time I would go back to the front desk and ask for a cleaner room.

We stayed a total of 6 nights. The second day we had to ask for fresh towels. We got them from room service who happened to be on our floor. The front desk would not take care of the problem, they told my husband to come down to the desk and get them. Our room was never tidied, trash removed, beds made etc. We asked 1 other time during our stay for clean towels from the staff in our hallway. These ladies were always very kind and helped us right away. We ate breakfast one of the mornings we were there. It was so dark in the area that we, along with other travelers were having difficulty seeing to get food, work devices and get coffee. My husband took out his flashlight and assisted guests! Needless to say, we will not ever stay at this hotel ever again and have passed the word to many of our traveling friends. We come to Kansas City often to see family and wee happy to find your hotel close to where they live. BUT we are sorely disappointed in our stay. Thank you for your time. Kate and Ron Miller

I generally stay at Wyndham hotels, a good value for the price, and have always had a very good experience. I had just come from a Drury hotel near the St. Louis airport because it was convenient for a one-night visit. And it was excellent. So coming to the KC Wingate was a bit of a letdown. It's not bad, but a few things stand out. I arrived to a man smoking next to the front door, although a sign says "no smoking within 50 feet" of the door. Bad start. Then the setup is odd--you walk right into a "wall" that is the staircase to the second floor, and have to go around it to the desk. The desk staff was okay, though not especially upbeat. My last day a young woman--Amanda, maybe--was much better. The main floor layout is interesting. Huge open area, with pool at one end and breakfast area/large bar at the other. Breakfast was decent, not exceptional. NO one ever used the bar, though I did watch a cricket match with some of the young guys who work at the hotel. One thing I look for at a hotel is the fitness area. In this one my favorite machine--the stationary bike--was broken. The room itself was fine. All the inside rooms surround the main floor and look down on it, a bit like many of the Hyatt hotels. There places to eat within a short walk, fast food but quick and edible. It is close to the 395 freeway, and was only about 15 minutes to KCI. It is walkable to World of Fun amusement park, which was not open yet. Not a bad experience, just...different.

The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The rooms air conditioning was working well. Breakfast was good. Pool was cold but will still worth swimming in. Laundry area was messy and one of sets of washer and dryer were broken.. Hotel was next to a Taco bell, waffle house and QT. WOF isn't to far away neither.
