Spacious condo steps to the beach

Our family of 4 enjoyed our week-long stay at Tranquility Bay Antigua, a quiet and peaceful condo resort steps from the beautiful Jolly Beach on the Caribbean (western) side of the island, with access to the swimming pools, gym, tennis, activities and evening programs at the lively all-inclusive resort next door with an international crowd, including plenty of families with kids. Our 2 Br/ 2 Bath condo was spacious and well equipped for our family, we were able to prepare breakfasts and lunches in our condo kitchen , dine outdoors on the covered balcony and walk to nearby restaurants at Jolly Harbor Marina for dinners. Hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful at scheduling tours and excursions of the island. TBA felt safe and secure. Condo building was older but clean, Beds were comfortable, washer/dryer was provided in our condo, housekeeping services were provided and this was a good home base for us as we explored Antigua. We had rented a car to drive/explore ourselves but driving was treacherous as roads are narrow, potholed, not always paved and driving is on the left. We were often dodging pedestrians, livestock and other vehicles. I would recommend using taxis.

NOT SO TRANQUIIL!!!

Sadly Tranquility isn't all that tranquil after all! Major problems with my booking upon arrival.................I was not alone.....other guests had the same issues! The place is very dated, needs serious work done......if you Google the place it comes up as one of the top hotels in Antigua!!! No it isn't! Certainly no where near 4 star as it claims....more 2 star!!! Staff, pleasant enough but not that interested nor helpful when there''s a problem.....too many 'Island smiles' and not enough done efficiently. On the plus side.....bed very comfortable, sun always hot and beach lovely and close by. Would definately NOT stay there again unless someone else paid! Not value for money, overpriced......so NOT RECOMMENDED AS A PLACE TO STAY!!! Antigua itself is a beautiful island but an expensive island too, lots of extra costs when dining 10% service + 15% island tax..... ie....non-alcoholic smoothie on the beach EC$15.00 - US$8.00+++!!!!! Almost glad to be home even if the weather sucks!!!

Very disappointed

The worst air conditioning we've ever run into while traveling & it's quite warm as u can imagine . Water was cold , the all place smells bed . We lost cable every single day . We were very disappointed and never coming back to this place again .

Wir (59/59) waren 8 Tage im Mai 2015 im Tranquility Bay und waren begeistert. Wenn man im Meer schwimmen will, gibt es keinen schöneren Strand auf Antigua als den Jolly Beach. Restaurants, Supermarkt, Auto- und Fahrradverleih ist alles in 5 min. zu Fuß erreichbar. Auch die Wohnungen im Tranquility waren super - nur die Klimaanlage schwächelte etwas. Das Personal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit

Front desk person was very friendly but gave horrible directions and did not even know there was a donkey sanctuary on the island. Our room had a broken dryer which was not repaired the entire week we were there. Air conditioning was poor which left the bedding and clothes damp. Livingroom furniture was uncomfortable.

Nice 2 bedroom suite right off the beach

Suite was very clean although dated. Good size for a family of four and having a full kitchen made it nice to stock items for the week instead on eating out for every meal. 1 of the 3 air conditioners was not working (barely running as a fan) but weather was pleasant enough to get by without it. I would say they should change the feature about free Wi-Fi in room since we were never able to get a signal from any device to connect. Only small area by reception could get you on the Internet (no cell service at all which was fine by me - remember we are on vacation)! Grounds were kept very clean and they even helped us take groceries back from supermarket using a golf cart. Master bedroom was very spacious.

Best Bang For your money

Excellent front desk staff, welcoming, friendly and informative. Rooms are spacious clean and well stocked with clean towels, dishes great for family vacations. Call for a golf cart pickup to dinner and back at ant if the great restaurants in around the area. The beach is in your door step just put on your sandals or barefoot it to the beach on the property.

Wonderful Experience!

My and family and I were very happy that we stayed at Tranquility Bay Hotel and highly recommend this hotel to others. We felt safe, the staff was extremely nice, especially Jerron, Joanne and Filomena. Jerron was very helpful. The beach is beautiful and safe to swim in. Our two bedroom suite was close to the beach. We love the spaciousness and the cleanliness of our two bedroom suite. The decor of the suite was nice. The washer and dryer was a plus it felt wonderful not having to do laundry on our return back from vacation. The supermarket in the area was also an added bonus. I, therefore, recommend Tranquility Bay to others without hesitation. We had a wonderful safe, time staying there.

Friendly hotel, close to wonderful beach

Pleasant hotel stay - close to Wonderful beach and clear blue sea - what's not to like? Spacious, clean rooms with helpful staff. Decor is slightly dated, and facilities may be in some need of upgrading, but that does not detract from the benefits of a great location in an area of natural beauty.

No Air-Conditioning. At All!!

DO NOT STAY HERE! No working AC even after multiple complaints from us and from other vacationers. When I spoke to the Operations Manager, Mrs Watty, (after three nights in a row of no working AC) she shamed me for needing an AC. She doesn't have AC at her house or ceiling fans, why should I need one? Because I paid for a room with a working AC!!!! Save your money and go elsewhere for a few extra dollars.

Family Stacation

The facilities were great and located just two minutes walk to an amazing beach, 5 minutes to a large supermarket and 5 minutes walk to a large family friendly pool. The gym was small but adequate. we bought and cooked our own food and there were a few really nice restaurants close by. Love it will plan to do this again as soon as possible.

Needs renovating. If you don't mind not staying in a hotel that is not modern nor updated than this hotel is an option for your stay in Antigua.

A very " Jolly" place to stay!

Hotel was in a great location and the staff was extremely helpful the rooms were spacious and contained two balconies. The one bedroom in which we stayed in contained a large shower, living room,and full kitchen. The Maids provided us with fresh towel daily and we're extremely helpful and polite they provided us with anything that was missing in our rooms with a smile. We were there during the week of Carnivale and participated in their parade and by the end of the stay we were fortunate enough to be relocated to a room that had a view of the beach.. the staff went out of their way to make sure that our stay was memorable.

Awesome Trip

It was my family first trip to Antigua. Our Stay at Tranquility Bay was awesome. We had a two bedroom and a one bedroom for six of my family members. The beach was so close and the supermarket was within walking distance. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Blue water and white sandy beach. My only downside was the noisy air conditioning unit. I would go back to Antigua again and will stay at the Tranquility Bay Resort. Jolly beach my family and I will be back. And if you need a good cab driver to show you around the island please ask for cab driver Trini at the airport such a nice and friendly man.

Great location

The hotel staff was friendly and they did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The beach is so close and you can walk to it . Great for families.

Great apartments and fantastic beach

We had 2 enormous rooms with our apartment and the apartment was great. The staff is very friendly and the facilities we could use at the Jolly Beach Resort are fantastic. The wifi was good when it works - but it was down for 3 days which was a pain. They are very strict on check out time at 11am. I requested a check out at 12 noon but they insisted on charging for the extra time!! I think most hotels would have been more flexible on this as they were not expecting any other guests and the resort was pretty empty.
