The staff here is the most helpful, polite, and hospitable staff that I have encountered at a hotel in my life. The check in was very smooth and they even arranged pick up and drop off from and to the train station, which was seamless. The rooms were very clean, as well as the bathroom. And the location is prime, right by the South Gate, 3 min walk to central tower, and a Luckin Coffee right next door.

Free pickup and drop-off from the high speed rail station. Hotel is pretty quiet inside considering it's on a very busy street outside. Super convenient location to see everything in Pingyao. They packed our breakfast for us since our departing train left earlier than when they usually serve breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay at the Water Hotel

My wife and I stayed at the Water Hotel for a few days in early January. The staff upgraded us to a larger room and was overall very helpful, including arranging a pickup at Taiyuan airport and return transportation to the airport. The morning breakfast is delivered to your room a few minutes after you order it. The Hotel is right in the old town and within steps of anything you want to see their. The itself was spacious, clean and with a comfortable bed.

Very lovely old hotel in ideal location hard bed

Lovely atmosphere old chinese. Right in the centre of the old city. Beautiful place for breakfast, Chinese breakfast did not suit my wife but great coffee and orange juice, i think they own luckin coffee next door. Room was lovely but we are getting too old for a futton on the floor that was the only downside. I think some rooms had softer beds Hotel picked up from train and dropped off great service. Dont really speak english but they had translator on the phone so it was fine. Staff friendly all good.

Excellent rapport qualité/prix

Situé sur la rue principale, juste près de la porte sud, il a l'avantage d'un accès facile (véhicules interdits en ville). Très calme, confortable, bien équipé et chauffé (important). Personnel très attentionné. Petit restaurant pour prendre le petit-déjeuner du matin. Pendant 4 jours nous avons eu tout le temps d'observer les lieux de séjour proposés à Pingyao et celui-ci est sans contexte une très bonne adresse.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of the Old City

Lovely hotel with amazingly modern, yet traditional decor. Our family of 4 adults and 2 toddlers reserved two Kang rooms, which was a good size and comfortable for the kids to sleep in. Wonderful service, hotel arranged free transport to/from Pingyao Old City train station. Breakfast was great, with Chinese and Western options. Awesome location right on South Street (one of the main streets) and just around the corner from the ticket booth and Old City Wall. All around an amazing experience and a beautiful hotel.

Nice and well located but noisy hotel

Hotel very well located and well renovated in an old house, very convenient to visit the city. However the room was very noisy (not possible to sleep after 7.30am due to the noise in the patio and other rooms) and the bathroom is a little small (the shower is over the toilets). Breakfast time could be a little longer (max 9am during the weekend)

Overall clean & comfortable

Hotel room was clean & comfortable, breakfast room very cold with very basic food. We travelled in January, so lots of coal burning for heat, you could smell this coming into the room at night, which wasn’t very pleasant. Difficult to communicate with staff, but that is common in China. Overall a good stay in a unique city.

This hotel has the best location in town, right on South Street 2 minutes from the gate tower. Great Service, very nice room and a pleasing interior court/lounge. The room had a phone which you can take out on the town and use with GPS, data and free international calls. They also offer free transfers from and to the train station. We didn't know about it when we arrived and the taxi didn't left use as close to the hotel as their driver would have. I guess you have to contact them with your arrival time.

Best hotel we stayed during our trip to China. The hotel is tastefully decorated, staff is kind and extremely helpful, room is spacious and new, bed very comfortable. Only complaint is that the kitchen staff was smoking inside of the restaurant.
