The hospitality offered by the owners was amazing! They were extremely welcoming, friendly and always asked if we needed ideas of places to eat and visit. Breakfast was AMAZING, waffles offered in 4 different varieties with every topping you could imagine along with REAL maple syrup (NH not VT lol). Would not hesitate to stay here for our next trip to Storyland.

From the easy check-in, the welcoming owners, the comfortable room, the delicious waffles at breakfast, to the easy check-out...everything was great! We had a lovely stay at Old Field House and would recommend this establishment!

Stay here!!

My kids and I had a blast at the Old Field House. Rod and Linea have put a lot of thought into the details - the hot breakfast, the pool towels, the game room, the fire pit with s’mores in the evenings… This is such a cute little property that’s close enough to everything to be convenient but far enough away to afford the peace and quiet we all seek on vacation. We hope to visit again!

A huge plus is that we were offered free use of the laundry room at the facility. Breakfast area and food were great. Overall, the common areas were comfortable and warm. Room was somewhat small, with the vanity in the bedroom. The hosts were helpful. The facility was nice, but some areas need additional attention, ie cobwebs in ceiling beams.

A lovely small Inn that feels more like a B&B. The rooms are extremely clean, quiet and comfortable. The couple that (owns?) and manages are warm and welcoming. The breakfast options are made on property and are delicious. Best blueberry Belgium waffles-- ever!!!

I spent two nights with my teenage kids at this property and we have enjoyed our time there tremendously! If you are looking for modern, sleek, chic and anonymous like all the chain hotels, this is not your hotel. However if you want to have a feeling like you are coming home, this might be just the property for you! My niece walked into the hotel and said it feels like staying with the grandparents...and she was absolutely right! This property is not a modern and anonymous hotel where you do not speak to people and deal with a lot of different staff. What you will find however is a friendly, family owned business where both owners have put in so much work and so much detail. There are games, toys, books and DVD's galore! The owners will be there during breakfast (actually making the eggs and waffles for you!) in the morning and tell stories about bears in the neighborhood and their family while sitting at the fire pit making smore's and socializing with other guests. The breakfast was amazing. We actually chose this property because everyone was raving about their waffles and their breakfast and I have to say people were not exaggerating. My teens also loved the game room with the ping pong table (among other things). We did not try the pool but looked at it and it looked clean and well kept. The room, while not furnished in a modern style, was clean, had free wifi, a TV, fridge, A/C and a DVD player. It was like going to visit your grandparents and it was perfect!

With the kindness and generosity of the owners, it's easy to overlook some of the small issues at the establishment. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and would consider going back again. However, there were a few areas that could be improved. Firstly, the walls were quite thin, which resulted in some noise disturbances. Additionally, the mattresses seemed to be outdated and not very comfortable. It would be beneficial for the owners to consider investing in newer mattresses for better guest comfort. Furthermore, the small freezer in the room didn't seem to be functioning properly, which was a bit disappointing. It would be great if this issue could be addressed to ensure that guests can have access to a fully functioning freezer. Another concern was the presence of a rust-like smell, which seemed to affect the air quality. It is possible that the air conditioner filters may need to be changed or the ventilation system inspected. This would greatly improve the overall ambiance and guest experience. On a positive note, I must mention that breakfast was absolutely delightful. The quality and selection of food were excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In conclusion, while there were some minor issues during my stay, the hospitality and kindness of the owners overshadowed them. I appreciate their efforts and would recommend the establishment.

Already planning my third stay!

My daughter, granddaughter, and I stayed at the Old Field House last year and liked it so much that we came back this year. Rod and Linea are wonderful hosts, and Rod makes the best breakfasts ever. You have to try his made-to-order waffles with your choice of blueberries, chocolate chips, and/or bananas. You'll love the Old Field House if you value an old-time feeling of comfort and tradition, much like you'd find at a beloved summer home that has been in the same family for generations. There's a hot tub and indoor swimming pool that my granddaughter loves, hammocks under the trees, bird feeders that attract hummingbirds outside the atrium breakfast room, and a campfire with s'mores at night. Although you feel as though you're out in the country (or, I should say, in the mountains), the inn is close to North Conway, StoryLand, and not too far from Santa's Village, where we went this year. There are lots of restaurants in the vicinity. Rod and Linea feel like family now, and we're already looking forward to next year!
